25.01.2022 We understand what it means to embrace sunshine and here starts a new day of July.

16.01.2022 String inverter or Micro-inverters? Micro-inverters are more expensive than simple string inverters but they have a variety of benefits that make them worth considering, especially if you have the shaded roof. Let’s go into detail: - String inverters are roughly the size of a briefcase and they are mounted on the wall. All of the panels connected into them. For residential-sized system, you’ll only need one string inverter per solar system. They operate at high DC voltage b...ut they are perfectly safe when installed by a competent licensed solar electrician. - Micro-inverters, on the other hand, are the size of small paperback books and they are installed on the back of each individual panel. Micro-inverters convert DC to AC at the source, meaning there is no high-voltage DC running through your roof at any point in time. It’s all much safer AC electricity instead. One core advantage of micro-inverters over string inverters is that it makes every panel independent of each other. So when one panel is shaded, it only affects that panel. In a string system, when one panel is shaded, the whole string of panel can go down. Because micro-inverters have this panel-level optimisation, you’ll also find that you can get as much as 12% more energy out of a micro-inverter system over a year compared to a string system. It also means that you can have panels facing every possible direction, whereas, with string inverters, you can only choose two, sometimes three directions per inverter. 15.01.2022 WILL YOUR SOLAR PANELS WORK DURING A POWER OUTAGE? What does solar energy mean to you? Saving the environment? Saving money? Or maybe it’s independence from the electric utility. Solar panels let you generate your very own free, sustainable electricity. However, most residential solar panel systems installed in Australia are connected to the electric grid. With a grid-tied system, you can still generate free, clean energy and you will also (almost) always have access to elect...ricity. Grid-tied systems have to abide by the rules of the utility, and that means no electricity when the grid goes down unless you have a battery-backed solar system So the quick answer to the question of whether or not solar panels will work during a power outage is No. It’s because of how a grid-tied solar system works. Sunlight hits the panels, generates electricity, passes through the inverter, and is used to turn on your lights or keep your food cold. When your panels are producing more electricity than you’re using, the extra electricity is pushed onto the electric grid. If the electric grid is down and your solar system is pushing that extra electricity onto the grid, that’s a big problem. Utility workers are working on those same power lines fixing the issue to get the area back up and running. They are doing this with the assumption that the lines are dead. Electricity from your solar system would make that assumption incorrect and can cause serious problems. In order to protect the utility workers and the grid itself, all grid-tied solar energy inverters are required to automatically shut down when the grid goes down and the power goes off. Solar panels will not be able to provide your home or business with electricity during a power outage. There are, however, two exceptions to this: your system is equipped with energy storage, or you forgo the benefits of grid-tied solar and opt for an off-grid system.
