25.01.2022 SAD AND EYE-OPENING. The Four Corners team asked you to show them how the drought is changing where you live. Here’s your response:
21.01.2022 This looks very interesting......
21.01.2022 Now that the horse industry is moving towards evidence-based worming and away from routine worming, there is, understandably, a bit of confusion about when and ...how often do do faecal egg counts and/or administer a worming treatment. We understand your confusion and so we have summarised the key points in a one-page Seasonal Guide - why not print it out (A4 or A3), laminate it and pop it in your feed shed or stable. https://evidencebasedworming.com.au//2018/11/Seasonal-Guid See more
20.01.2022 An interesting article on natural de-wormers :) https://www.doctorramey.com/natural-dewormers/
20.01.2022 $5,000 to $20,000 grants are up for grabs for landholders through the Australian Government’s Smart Farms Small Grants scheme. These grants are designed to increase on-farm productivity and help protect natural assets. Vicki from our local FBA can help us out with our applications.... http://www.agriculture.gov.au//australian-government-inves

14.01.2022 Shared from Catherine McCoy: "Well time to have my say about the slaughter of the Australian Brumby. Yes, I am a horse lover, I live next to the Alpine National... Park and have spent a lot of years up on the high plains. Firstly, I agree that they are not native, but that's where I stop agreeing with Parks Vic and the rest of the people, that don't want horses in parks. The other things that are not native and are up there are deer, pigs cats, dogs, foxes, rabbits, goats, hares, mice, rats, european wasps, honeybees, earwigs, blackbirds, starlings, sparrows, myna birds, trout, carp, snails, slugs, blackberries, briars, thistles, broom, willow, dock, st johns wart, ski resorts, huts, treated pine poles, rubber mats on walking tracks, signs, bitumen roads, dirt roads, man made dams, aqueducts, power lines, bike tracks, cement/plastic culverts, steel gates and white man. Plus many more things. So tell me how a hand full of horses does more damage than all of these things. They have been in the parks a long time, before they were parks and I am being told that only now they are ruining the environment and destroying the frogs, skinks crayfish and native rat. Light bulb moment, horses are herbivores the don't eat other animals, these other critters live in their own little spots and are not affected by the horse, they hop and scurry out of the road, if they didn't they would already be extinct. It takes about 2 acres to graze a horse. The Bogong High Plains is 1.6 million acres. So if there is 100 horse up there they have access to 16 thousand acres per horse, and you are saying that there are too many for that area, not much into the feeding habits of amimals are you. Kosciuszko is even bigger with 1.705 million acres, that's a lot of area to graze. To help out the city people the MCG is 4.33 acres, so the Bogong High Plains would fit in about 369515 MCGs, that's how big it really is. The fires have been and gone , the grass has grown back in a lot more places than you are being told. The grasses are native, they regenerate quickly after a fire. The 2003 fires were worse up on the tops, and amazingly every thing survived and came back, it always will, same but different. Sorry about the long post, hope I haven't put you all to sleep, but if I didn't have my say I would have regretted it for a long time. So much more should be said about the lies that are being told by people that keep on seeing the tiny little single jigsaw piece, instead of looking at the whole jigsaw picture. Why do you hate horses so much?" See more
13.01.2022 So, my exciting news is that I'm now a recommended service provider through the Fitzroy Basin Association!! What does this mean? There is currently a bucket of ...funding available for landholders in the Fitzroy Basin region to be reimbursed for certain services of up to 70%. My consultations and workshops come under these services. If you would like a consult regarding soil health and improvement or pasture management you may be able to claim a 70% reimbursement. Consults on weed control are 30% and stock health and handling (horses) 50%. If you have been considering a consultation or would like some education on these subjects please contact me. At this stage, the funding is available until the end of June.

04.01.2022 Do you have a dam on your property that looks similar to this? We are getting reports of many animals getting stuck in the silt/mud being foun...d dead or dying. They were just desperately trying to get to the water in the middle to ease their thirst. Please, please if you have dams on your property with silt, check them morning and afternoon. If you find an animal, pull them out straight away. If they are a baby animal or an adult does not get up after a few minutes, they will need to come into care. Call 1300 ANIMAL straight away so a rescuer can be found. Can you help us save our precious wildlife? Their survival is in your hands.
