25.01.2022 Early start for the 251 crews! Just after 1:30am this morning CP251 was called to the Esplanade, Warner’s bay to reports of a boat fire. Upon arrival a docked yacht was found well alight next to a jetty. ... Crews donned BA and started initial fire attack with 38mm hose whilst utilising the CAFS foam system to smoother the flames. Shortly after there arrival further resources of T251 and P458 arrived on scene and established water supply to Pumper 251 from a nearby hydrant. Crews worked to contain the fire to the yacht and prevent further damage to the jetty, whilst trying to maintain the haul to prevent excess environmental spillage into the lake. The SO declared that a small amount of fuel had escaped the haul of the vessel and requested the attendance of Hazmat 260. Hazmat 260 attended and assessed the scene and the area was rendered safe and the spill was contained. The yacht was unfortunately completely destroyed by fire whilst the jetty was left with minor damage. The yacht will now be salvaged by Maritime crews later today. NSW police were also in attendance. Crews left the scene and returned to station shortly after 3:15am. Great work by B Platoon crews to prevent further damage to the jetty.



24.01.2022 MVA Taylor Street Cardiff Shortly before 5pm this afternoon CP251 was called to Taylor Street , Cardiff to reports of a overturned motor vehicle. Upon arrival they found a vehicle overturned with a male driver trapped by confinement within the vehicle. CP251 sent a message too Fire Coms requesting the assistance of Technical Rescue 357 for Rescue and Tanker 251 for extra manpower. ... Rescue 357 arrived on scene and established a rescue plan to extricate the male from the vehicle. CP251 provided fire protection whilst Technical Rescue operators and crew from CP251 and T251 worked together to remove the doors off the vehicle to allow for extrication of the patient. The patient was released from the vehicle and conveyed to hospital by Ambulance for treatment of injuries sustained during the crash. CP251 and T251 worked with salvage crews to right the vehicle whilst cleaning the roadway and rendering a small oil spill safe. NSW police and NSW Ambulance were also in. Attendance. 22.01.2022 CP251 is currently at a 2nd Alarm structure Fire in Merewether. Crews are carrying out internal search and rescue and fire attack in breathing apparatus along with aerial ladder platforms in attendance.

22.01.2022 Crews from Cardiff 251 are currently in Pendlebury Road following reports of fallen power lines on the road. Local residents should avoid the area of Pendlebury Road between Munibung Road and Alahambra Avenue. Anyone affected by power outages in the local area can follow Ausgrid for updates.



21.01.2022 Busy week for 251 Crews Monday night saw CAFS Pumper 251 and Tanker 251 called to a wide variety of storm related calls after the severe Thunderstorm passed through our region. Crews utilised chainsaws and worked to clear trees off roadways, assist with storm damage, respond to numerous calls for assistance and crews also attended a Gas leak at Kooragang. ... Tuesday , saw another busy day for crews with both CAFS Pumper and Tanker 251 called at 11:30am to an industrial scrap metal facility in Teralba where a fire was located deep within a large pile of scrap metal. Water supply to support active firefighting provided challenging in the early stages of the incident due to a lack of nearby water hydrants. CAFS Pumper 251 was utilised to relay pump water from nearby cockle creek. Whilst Tanker 251 carried water from hydrants back to the scene of the fire to continuously top up other pumpers that were attacking the fire. Shortly after 2hrs the fire was contained and under control and Tanker 251 returned to station whilst CAFS pumper 251 remained on scene. Upon arrival back to Cardiff Station ,Fire and Rescue NSW Station 255 Charlestown were standing by at our station to maintain fire coverage whilst our crews were out. It was shortly after 2pm that Pumper 255 and Tanker 251 were called to Barnsley to reports of a Motor home alight in a paddock. Crews arrived on scene and found one motor home fully alight and began to extinguish the fire with crew members in BA with the high pressure hose reel. Members of Cameron Park Rural Fire Brigadewere also in attendance as the fire was within their district. Crews from 255 and 251 handed over the scene to the local Rural Fire Service crews to continue extinguishment and salvage operations. Just before 3:00pm crews returned to Cardiff station where CAFS Pumper 251 released Charlestown 255 to return back to there home station.

18.01.2022 At 4am this morning CAFS Pumper 251 was called to a car fire in Fredrick Street, Glendale. Crews arrived on scene to find a vehicle that had been driven into the Fire trail access gate and subsequently was well alight on arrival. One crew member donned Breathing Apparatus and commenced Fire attack operations utilising the First Aid reel. Water and foam were utilised to extinguish the vehicle. ... The vehicle was extinguished shortly after 4:30am and was unfortunately totally destroyed by fire. Tanker 251 and NSW police were also in attendance. The incident was closed out and handed over to NSW Police for further action. Good work by D Platoon

13.01.2022 Crews from Cardiff 251 and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 357 Lambton were responded to Lake Rd in Wallsend earlier this evening after numerous reports of a motor vehicle accident. Rather than explain the rest of the details, we will let the pictures speak for themselves. Two of the involved vehicles were empty and stationary at the time of the incident the occupant of the third vehicle was treated for minor injuries.... #preparedforanything



12.01.2022 Wetlands Command Shortly after 7pm last night Tanker 251 was called to a Structure Fire 2nd Alarm within the Hunter Wetlands at Shortland. First arriving crews from Mayfield 462 arrived on scene to find an industrial shed packed with machinery and Chemicals that was fully alight. Subsequently the incident was upgraded to a 2nd Alarm Structure Fire consisting of 1 Pump 484, 4 FRNSW Tankers(251,454,458 &498) , Rescue 357, Hazmat 260 and Duty Commander NEW 1. ... Tankers were requested due to the location of the fire and the requirement of a static water supply, as well as egress into the Wetlands. Tanker 251 arrived on scene and began relay pumping into Pumper 484 and crew members donned Breathing Apparatus and commenced Fire attack operations. Subsequent Tankers then trucked Water from the street and relayed into Tanker 251 to maintain water supply. Fire + Rescue crews worked for 3hrs to extinguish the blaze and carried out Salavage and Overhaul operations to ensure the site was deemed safe. The site was assessed by Hazmat 260 and deemed safe and the incident was completed shortly after 10pm. NSW Police and NSW Ambulance were also in attendance.

07.01.2022 LOLLY RUN DAY!! After a long distance phone call to Ms Claus and Santa we finally have confirmation on the route this years Lolly Run will take . Starting at 2pm today .... This years run will take in the following suburbs in this order: Cardiff Glendale Drive area Cardiff Heights/New Lambton Heights Garden Suburb Cardiff South Macquarie Hills Remember to come to your nearest cross street or Main Street to ensure you catch us. This year we will also be stopping at the following special meeting spots where we will be able to catch as many of you kids as possible : Glendale Playground (Off Graham street) Campbell Reserve (Garden Suburb) Ulinga Oval (Cardiff South) Neegullbah Park (Macquarie Hills) Please remember that we will do our absolute best to cover as many streets as possible. The lolly Run will continue until we run out of lollies. Also remember that the Fire Truck is still an operational Appliance so if we take off unexpectedly it’s only because we have been paged for a callout. If this occurs we will continue on with the Lolly Run after we have attended the callout . A few things too remember are : We will be following a Covid Safety Plan and have ensured that our event follows strict safety guidelines. Lollies are individually bagged and have been done so under strict food safety guidelines. We also remind people to maintain social distancing where applicable. Please monitor children in and around the fire truck as we pass through the streets. Remember to allow everyone to get a little bag of goodies to spread festive cheer. 07.01.2022 MVA into building Around 11:30pm lastnight crews from Cardiff 251 were called to a Motor Vehilce Accident with reports of a vehilce crashing into a residence on Lake Road, Glendale. Upon arrival CAFS Pumper 251 found a vehicle that had crashed into the ground floor of a unit complex causing substantial structural damage to the frame of the building and outside brickwork also. Luckily the occupants of the car had self extricated and no one inside the unit complex was injur...ed also. Station Officer A Platoon 251, requested Tanker 251 for manpower and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 357 Lambton Technical Rescue appliance to attend for structural collapse precautions to begin. Crews worked to render a small oil spill safe from the vehilce and worked along side 357 Technical Rescue crews to acro prop the damage structure and render the area safe. Police notified the occupants of the above storeys that they would need alternative accommodation until structural engineers assess the building later this morning. NSW Police we’re in attendance for this incident. Crews returned to the station shortly after 1:15am.

06.01.2022 Another diverse day of calls in Cardiff Shortly before 5am crews from Cardiff 251 were called to an industrial premise within Cardiff Industrial Estate to reports of an electrical fire within a oven. Upon arrival a electrical fire was found within the internal components of the oven. Power was isolated to the machine and crews donned BA whilst using CO2 extinguishers and a small amount of foam to suppress the fire and contain it within the oven. Then just before 2pm crews ...from Cardiff 251 we’re called to a Motor Vehicle Accident with persons trapped along Wallsend road, Elemorevale. Luckily the occupants had been released from the vehicles by bystanders and were assessed and conveyed to hospital by NSW Ambulance. The road was closed for some time while crews working alongside Towing Authorities removed both vehicles from the roadway and rendered a oil spill safe that had occurred on the roadway. 04.01.2022 At 3:30am this morning crews were called to Torrens Avenue, Cardiff to reports of a Vehicle alight. On arrival a hatchback was found well alight with no occupants on scene. Crews got to work utilising the CAFS pumpers high pressure first aid reel and foam. The vehilce was extinguished shortly before 4:00am with the area rendered safe. ... NSW Police we’re also in attendance and will be investigating the causes and notifying the unfortunate owner.



04.01.2022 Please don’t be alarmed if you see us out and about in Cardiff this morning. Crews from Cardiff 251 are running a practical training scenario this morning, focusing on hazardous materials. The majority of this training will take place near No 2 oval at Cardiff, and all props are purely for show, and in place to help us run a realistic scenario.

04.01.2022 If you’re wondering where that smoke is coming from, we have some answers for you. Today saw us take part in a hazard reduction activity at Cameron Park. Activities like this are typically performed in the cooler months, and are designed to reduce fuel loads in preparation for the warmer months. Working alongside the NSW Rural Fire Service, crews from Cardiff and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 498 Holmesville assisted with hazard reduction burning on the northern side of Cameron... Park. It was a great day, and good conditions meant that we were able to work quickly, effectively, and safely. Many thanks to the NSW Rural Fire Service for having us, and for ensuring we were looked after. Cameron Park Rural Fire Brigade have advised that patrols will continue this evening, and have requested that the public do not enter any of the tracks or trails in and around the burnt area. A 38 hectare burn is planned for Rhonda Road at Wakefield on Sunday and Monday, while NSW firefighters will be at St Joseph's south of Toronto from Sunday. More burns are planned at Floralia Close at Blackbutt, Noamunga Reserve at Boat Harbour, Narara Road south of Coooranbong and the M1 Pacific Motorway and George Booth Drive at Seahampton next Tuesday. 04.01.2022 Around 9am this morning crews from CP251 were called too a car fire in Argenton. Upon arrival a SUV was found well alight next to a residential structure with flames from the car fire beginning to impact the adjacent building. Crew members donned BA and utilised the high pressure hose real to quickly extinguish the flames and prevent any spread into the building. A combination of water and foam was used to supress the car fire and provide a blanket of protection for the hig...h voltage power box that was close by. The vehicle was extinguished completely around 9:15am and crews conducted salvage and ventilation procedures on the adjoining structure to remove excess smoke and render the scene safe. Crews returned to station just before 9:45am. Some good quick firefighting by D Platoon.

01.01.2022 Incident Update Crews from CAFS Pumper 251 and Tanker 251 are currently at a Bushfire in Delaware Drive , Macquarie Hills. A bushfire approximately 20 metres by 20 metres is burning in dense bushland off Delaware Drive with low flame height and intensity. Crews have utilised fire access trails and rang several lengths of hose to reach the fire and assist with water supply. The fire is currently contained with no threat to property at this time and is being extinguished at this time.

01.01.2022 Just before 1pm today crews from CAFS Pump 251 & Tanker 251 were called to a car alight in the main road of Cardiff. Upon arrival a SUV was found alight with a fire burning in the engine compartment of the vehicle. Crews members donned breathing Apparatus and quickly commenced fire attack operations utilising the high pressure hose reels. The bonnet of the vehicle was opened to allow crews to access the engine compartment and extinguish the fire. ... Due to the quick work of crews the fire was quickly extinguished and the damage was confined to the engine compartment and front of the vehicle. No further damage was caused to surrounding vehicles or buildings. The area was rendered safe and caution tape placed around the affected vehicle. Shortly after 1:30pm Main road was reopened and the vehicle was later towed.
