19.01.2022 With Uganda largely in lockdown, construction has been slowed but not halted. We are still in great need of funds to complete the next stage of construction. This will be a beautiful two storey complex with accommodation and classrooms for the Orphanage and School. If you would like information on the project and how you can help, please message us. 18.01.2022 While we wrestle with the unprecedented effects of this Pandemic here in Australia, in 3rd World countries like Uganda, the impact is even more pronounced! Little or no Govt. support, limited heath services, food prices doubling, self distancing extremely difficult. And high unemployment and high levels of poverty. We don’t often do appeals, but would so be grateful if you could remember Uganda in your prayer. We have so many wonderful friends there, partnerships with many ch...urches and are supporting the development of a school and orphanage in Katoke, Wakiso. Every dollar we receive goes directly to the school, the welfare of the children, training staff and it’s future development. Currently we are constructing new dorms, classrooms and toilets but there are also pressing needs for health and food supplies. If you would like any further information, please PM me. And of course any donation would be gratefully received. I provide these details not to pressure or coerce you (or anyone) to give but simply to show people where you can give if you feel moved to do so. The kids in orange are from the Orphanage and School and the others are just to give you a taste of Uganda and and to show why they are more vulnerable to a Pandemic than we in wealthier countries. 17.01.2022 COVID-19 Crisis. Would you like to help these children at the Hope of Children School and Orphanage in Wakiso, Uganda? Every dollar makes a difference! The impact of prolonged lockdown has had a pronounced impact on the people of Uganda. No employment. No income. Dramatic price rises for food. Extraordinary costs for hand sanitiser and relocating children to three seperate locations! Temporary school closure and limited transport options. Etc!... Urgent Funds are needed to assist staff and to ensure that these children have essential food, sanitary items, medicines, soaps, cooking oil, fire wood for cooking, etc. With no Government support, external assistance in this Corona crisis is needed. 100% of donations received are forward directly to the school. Please indicate if you would like to support these children via a) where ever it’s needed most. b) child or teacher sponsorship c) the new accommodation, toilet and classroom building project. ONLY at the Owen Strawberry Fete from 3pm - 7pm tomorrow Feb 16th, at the Owen Hall Lots of food and drinks, quality stalls including produce, plants, scones with jam and cream, Men's Shed creations - Entertainment by locals - and of course Strawberries and Ice Cream!! Come along, bring some friends and grab a bargain or two.
