19.01.2022 I ask you to look around you and give thanks for the simple things in life. Our people in Tarime, do this everyday that is what they always have done. This is their way. Many do not have access to water to wash their hands. They do not have soap to lather their hands or masks to wear. They love deeply and care and respect each other and their fellow man. As an aid worker, nurse, mother and a grandmother, my heart is torn by the global devastation that is currently around us.... I acknowledge that I am privileged to have soap to wash my hands and PPE to wear. I am fortunate and grateful that I can self isolate into a safe home. There are many in the world who do not have these opportunities. We are all worthy of this and for an unknown reason I was born into a privileged life. For that I am forever grateful. Our people in Tarime have taught me to be grateful for the simple things in life, for my family, friends, Mother Nature and the dawn of a new day and a new life. #careforafrica #makingadifference #staysafe See more

18.01.2022 Today is International Women's Day. The installation of the much needed deep-water well in the Bulimba community will give time & opportunity for the women & girls to educate themselves & set up economically self sufficient businesses. This is the 1st & most important step to the empowerment of women & poverty alleviation.... #water #community #empowerment #women #poverty #selfsufficient

15.01.2022 We have commenced the early stages of finding a water source for the commencement of the Burimba deep water well. This has been done through a geophysical / hydrogeological survey by Mangira Drilling. The survey is a systematic collection of geophysical data using the conductivity/resistance properties of rocks and groundwater near the surface. This data is then analysed to assess potential groundwater availability and depth and prioritise the most reliable site to commence... drilling. This is an exciting space to watch. Here's hoping for a good outcome so our people (over 1,000 people) in the Burimba sub village can have access to safe clean drinking water. This will be the 1st time in living history for them. Thank you to the W4W20 team that is making this possible. #water #WASH #careforafrica #tanzania #tasmania #geophysical #hydrology #thankyou #history

11.01.2022 Many women & girls in the rural communities of Tarime walk long hours every day to collect water. Access to safe drinking water is the most basic human right. Yesterday a group of 40 enthusiastic & compassionate W4W #CareforAfrica supporters walked 19 kms to Lake Rodway to raise funds & experience what the women & girls do on a daily basis.... The funds will be going to the installation of a deep water well in the remote sub-village in Bisarwi, Tarime. Thank you W4W walkers for caring & making a difference. #water #women #girls #humanrights #compassion #LakeRodway #waterwell #thankyou #makingadifference

On Sunday 19th July, 14 enthusiastic Tasmanian walkers will leave the foothills of Mt Kilimanjaro to climb 5,895m to summit the "Roof of Africa." The walkers are walking to raise enough funds to install a deep water well in Bulimba, a sub-village in Bisarwi, Tarime.... The well will provide clean drinking water to over 1,000 people that do not have easy access to this most valuable human need, water.
