24.01.2022 Dear Kurrajong Handspun Crafters, When did life become so complicated? I yearn for the simple pleasures in life and simpler times. When did everything we do have to be a huge production? Today as you read this email I will have had a breakfast with my twins beside the Nepean River to Celebrate my 58th year. ...Continue reading

24.01.2022 We are currently meeting at both Hanna Park Nth Richmond from 10 am to 1ish and North Richmond Community Centre from 12pm to 3pm.

24.01.2022 Maybe next year will be different? Dear Kurrajong Handspun Crafters, This time next week the AGM will be over and dusted for another year. We will have heard reports about what we have done this year. We will elect a new committee, we do have some nominations but there are still positions to be filled. We will have a general meeting and we will hope beyond hope that there is either a vaccine or Covid-19 is totally eradicated. We do not know w...Continue reading

20.01.2022 Good Afternoon one and all, Today I called into North Richmond Community Centre after enjoying my time at Hanna Park. along with 14 members. It was nice to see 10 members enjoying their craft at the centre. There were a couple of people that had been at both venues. I was there to hear Briggitt give her covid safety talk which included the measures that the Community Centre has put in place along with the responsibilities of each individual that uses the Centre. These incl...uded sanitizing chairs and the show and tell table along with anything else touched including light switches and door handles. It really is wonderful that we can continue meeting safely whether it be in the park or at the centre or at Bilpin. We are still however are one group and I would encourage you all to view us that way and not see us as fragmented or as seperate groups. We all have our opinions on what is safe for us and I believe that it is up to each individual to decide for themselves where they feel most comfortable. As I sit in my study and write this week's ramble to you I am hearing the news from the lounge room and Sydney has recorded 12 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. Yesterday there were 3 cases recorded. That was however after 12 days of having no new cases. Of course you would all be aware that there have been traces of covid found in the North Richmond Sewerage Treatment Plant. I do think that we will be living with Covid for a little while yet. I wonder if we will ever return to a pre Covid life or whether we will change the way we do things and adapt to a new way of thinking when it comes to social distancing and sanitizing both surfaces and our hands. Just a reminder that we will be having our AGM on October 29 th at 10 am at Hanna Park, North Richmond. So now is the time to consider whether you would like to be part of our Committee. All positions are vacant. I believe that we have had three nominations registered. This week at Hanna Park, Jan bought her EasyCraft Spinning wheel for me to have a look at. It is a beautiful little wheel that was given to her by a friend and we believe it could possibly be about 50 years old. Made in Christchurch, she had just seen it as a beautiful piece of furniture but now after a little play will probably use it again. I had never seen a wheel like it before but I have to say it is a beautiful piece of spinning history. Do you have an interesting piece of fibre equipment with history that is also beautiful to look at? Have a wonderful Crafty Week, Until next time Ann xx Attachments area

19.01.2022 Congratulations to all who entered the Hand Spun section of The Hawkesbury Show. The cupboard was bursting. To all those that won a prize well done. @ Hawkesbury District Agricultural Asscn

18.01.2022 Due to the continued wet weather forecast for the rest of this week and the fact that even without rain the ground will be rather soggy, The Committee has made the decision to move the AGM to the Community Centre this week 29th October 2020. We will meet at the hall at 10 am and anticipate once we are seated the AGM will commence. The doors on both sides of the hall will be open so as those that do not wish to go inside can sit and listen from the outside. We hope to see lots of you there.

18.01.2022 A welcome visitor.

17.01.2022 15/4/21 action central plus show and tell.

15.01.2022 It was very nice in the park today after speckled grey beginning. Sunshine eventually arrived, as did a cooling breeze. We had 6 crafters, one supervisor and one four legged quality control officer. Show and tell was excellent this week.

13.01.2022 Today we held our AGM at North Richmond Community Centre. It was lovely to see so many smiling faces in the hall once again. The meeting and the following general meeting flowed well. The Elections took place and the results are in. Your Committee for 2020 / 2021 are as follows President Ann Ronayne... Vice President Colleen Kilgour Treasurer Geoff Mc Hardy Liaison Officer Barbara Saunders Librarian Anne White A special motion was passed as we had no nominations for Secretary. It was passed that the President may hold the position of Secretary until such a time as a secretary is appointed. I am pleased to announce that Matt Peace will be appointed to the position of Secretary, at the upcoming committee meeting, with the assistance of Di Hill as the minutes taker/scribe. I would like to thank the outgoing committee for their support and work over the past year, and welcome the new committee with new energy and a renewed vision for our club. We will continue to meet at Bilpin, Hanna Park and the Community Centre for the remainder of the year and hopefully when we return in January we will all be able to meet at the North Richmond Community Centre once more. I look forward to promoting our club and our craft for another year. Please do not hesitate to contact me via Facebook at any time if you have any questions or suggestions. Until next time I leave you with this quote from Helen Keller, Keep on Crafting Ann

06.01.2022 Today we paid tribute to our dear friend and past President, Cathy Hill. @fibrenut @mountainssilkandwool She was remembered for her love of fibre, wool, alpaca , spinning, dyeing, eco dyeing and felting. A few members recounted stories of our lovely Cathy. On the table was some of her fibre, yarn spun from her dyed wool and even a couple of in house scarf exchange shawls. We miss you and your bright red lipstick #redlipstick #remembering #youtaughtmetospin #wemissyou #thankful #youleftyourmarkonus #kurrajonghandspuncrafts @ North Richmond Community Centre

03.01.2022 Today saw the first group of Kurrajong Handspun Crafters return to the North Richmond Community Centre.

03.01.2022 This week has been a time of reflection for me. Last week we had the special meeting and a few comments were made that caused me to think about actions and reactions. Firstly I must apologise to all of you as a group for not consulting you back in March when we ceased meeting at the Community Hall. I really should have consulted everyone, and I am sorry that I did not. That is now the past and should remain in the past. We have a future to look forward to as a club. A club t...hat is currently meeting in three separate spaces and as soon as we all feel safe will be able to meet once again as a group in the Community Centre. We are still one club. This week saw the meeting at the Community Centre resume and they had a total of 8 members in attendance. We had a wonderful time in the park with 14 of us enjoying lots of chatter. It was wonderful to see Carolyn driving for the first time today since she injured her shoulder way back in February. So back to actions and reactions, I am not perfect by any means. I have scars and I have baggage...I mean my baggage is not just an overnight bag but one of those huge trunks that travellers used to take on overseas trips often by passenger liner, think Titanic. I have been through some interesting times in my life, some extremely hard times and some absolutely amazing times. If I had a time machine, I am not sure that I would change a single thing in my life. Except maybe to learn when to keep my mouth shut. I say things, often without thinking, I can shoot from the hip, I get emotional, I care and I protect those that I care for fiercely. I care about you, each of you very important members of our group. For those of us who have health concerns, I want to assure you that the covid safety plan being implemented at the Community Centre is being carried out well. There is social distancing and hand sanitizer. Our Library and store rooms are not being used at this time and we will be guided by Anne White as our Librarian as she continues to be in contact with other libraries. I must stress it is still up to the individual to do what they know is right for them. Thank you Geoff for being the covid marshal Our Club needs you ! Our AGM is approaching very soon and if you would like to serve on the Committee now is the time to think about it. Ask a member of the committee if you need to know anything about any of the roles. All positions are vacant. In conclusion for this week's ramblings I just want to leave you with this thought ..... We are human. We are not perfect. We are alive. We try things. We make mistakes. We stumble. We fall. We get hurt. We rise again. We try again. We keep learning. We keep growing. AND.... we are thankful for the priceless opportunity called LIFE. Be Kind, be safe and do something nice this week, I am only an email or phone call away if you need anything, Ann xx

02.01.2022 Good Evening All, Do you remember watching fractured fairy tales on television as part of the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show? Or maybe your children watched them? They were a part of growing up in the 60's and 70's. They essentially were a classic fairy tale with a twist, a change in characters or even a modern setting. Our Kurrajong Handspun Crafts is a bit like that at the moment. What we knew as normal before Covid-19 is no longer. We are currently meeting in three separate lo...Continue reading
