22.01.2022 Dear Woombye Community, there is much uncertainty surrounding us at the moment so we wish to assure you that we will continue partnering with you to minimise the impact of this on our local families. We will be staying open to continue to provide open air, nature inspired education to children from 15 months to 5 years of age as well as vacation care during the school break. This includes our Green House Farm where children are able to connect with animals and nature to bene...fit their learning and wellbeing. Please contact us to find out how to enrol in these programs and become a WCK Explorer. As per the Government advice, we follow strict hygiene and hand washing rules during all of our experiences and inquiries to ensure the wellbeing of children and our educators. For more information and to enrol visit www.woombyechildcare.com.au or send a message.

21.01.2022 Gardening at the Green House Farm Plants were carefully removed and potted before the bed was dug up using tools. "Are we like real gardeners with our boots on?", Arwen asked. "Yes, you have boots on like Jen", Leon replied. Dirt was placed into pots for our propagated rosemary and geraniums from the centre. "So you take it out and then put it in dirt and it will grow?", Toby asked. They need water", Leon added. "Now I am a farmer. Not a pretend one, a real one. I have a re...al life tractor", Toby continued. Seedlings grown from Hamish's seeds were transplanted to continue growing. "It's different now cause it has grown very much", Arwen observed. We have loved our time at the Farm during isolation as restrictions lift we are looking forward to being back at the centre next week on Tuesday and Wednesday and the farm Thursday and Friday. It will be such a joy when our WCK Explorers can walk Woombye land again visiting and working at the Community Garden and Milo and Jills bush site ! #realgardenersatwork

A massive thanking to Bec and the team at Frankie's Cafe for going above and beyond to support our friends with their community engagement.

18.01.2022 Childhood is a time to be, to seek and make meaning of the world. Being recognises the significance of the here and now in childrens lives. It is about the present and them knowing themselves, building and maintaining relationships with others, engaging with lifes joys and complexities, and meeting challenges in everyday life. The early childhood years are not solely preparation for the future but also about the present. Early Years Learning Framework Over the last few we...eks at the farm, educators have observed how each individual child is adapting to the changes within their environment, especially the significant change from the learning environment of the Woombye kindy and the physicality of the farm environment. On the farm we dont have to seek out learning, we have found we are surrounded by a dynamic learning environment all day, every day. The exploration of the farm spaces is proving to be vitally important to the children and in a short space of time we have noted that they return naturally to specific areas of interest - observing how Nicola takes care of all the farm animals, finding and observing insects within their natural living environment, recording how the evolving seasons effects the living landscape around us, all these things hold value and interest for each child. Children today were focused on taking care of our herb gardens, exploring living creatures within the riverbed soil, extending our use of real world tools, learning about our own physical bodies and engaging socially in meaningful ways with our friends.

17.01.2022 Community Mini Inquiry Creating ongoing and meaningful connections in our Woombye Community At Woombye Childcare and Kindergarten we continue to develop deeper connections with our Woombye community, and to our WCK explorers families and friends who are playing and learning at home. Our inquiry this term presented our WCK Explorers with the opportunity to grow and reshape their understanding of the Woombye Community.... Our planned inquiry Walking Woombye Land has encouraged our team and the children to become real WCK Explorers out and about meeting the locals and having great conversations and honing their understanding of Walking Woombye Land. We are very busy collecting, painting seed pods to design and create a welcoming front entrance community mural that represents their emerging understanding of Walking Woombye and this special community. Their thinking and designs are based on the dreamtime story How the Birds got their Colours by Mary Albert and Pamela Lofts. The WCK Explorers children have been reading, rereading and enjoying this rich Dreamtime story. They have decided the colourful painted poinsettia seed pods represent beautiful coloured feathers which will be woven into a mural. Yes they love to create, plan, design and DO! We need and invite community participation: What can you do? Collect seed pods from our beautiful Poinsettia trees that line Blackall Street,. Take them home and together paint, design then return them to be added to the entrance bird mural we are making. We also encourage extended family members to become involved too! Lots of brothers and sisters who would enjoy this experience. We have placed a basket of seed pods on our veranda so please come and collect a few! These Poinsettia seed pods are so iconic and depict our Woombye way so clearly. Tune into a live streaming of the story How the birds got their colours by with our EC Teacher Chris.. We are looking forward to creating a welcoming entrance that will invite curiosity to enter our space and reflect our whole community.

12.01.2022 We are always supportive of the wonderful experiences other Early Childhood services offer to children and their families.Nicola from Woombye Childcare and Kind...ergarten attended our annual Village Ways conference a couple of years ago and we have stayed in regular contact ever since.I recently took up my invitation to visit their farm located in Kureelpa which the children visit on a regular basis. A short 20 minute drive from Buderim and I felt transported back to my own childhood growing up on a farm in Galway in the west of Ireland.I even had my own Donkey! If any of our page followers live out this way and are looking for an authentic adventurous playspace contact Nicola for more information. ~ Nancy See more

11.01.2022 If you're a parent suddenly teaching your kids at home, or an educator, these great ideas by Birdwings Forest School might just inspire you to take the learning... outside to a secluded local area. Learning outside increases kids' engagement and decreases their stress (a great step towards a more harmonious classroom!) while more outside time gives us all a chance to enjoy some fresh air and more incidental movement throughout the day. Remember to choose a spot where you can safely keep your distance from others, whether its your garden or a local park, and have fun learning outside together!
