21.01.2022 A huge thank you goes to the many kind people who donate beautiful clothing, soft toys, rugs and quilts - often hand crafted items using donated fabrics and yarn in the #waronwaste; and to those who buy necessities we can't create for clothing, toiletry and education needs in our Care Kits to give to children in crisis or out-of-home care. If you see a photo of your creation or donation without your name, we'd love you to tell us who you are!

17.01.2022 Our team of volunteers love knowing their contributions for our Care Kits are making a difference for the young people assisted by the Brisbane Youth Service. More can be ordered as needed all year round, any time.

Update 20 March 2021: Currently, we urgently need size 16 girls clothing (tshirts, shorts, tops, pants, pyjamas), girls crop tops sizes 10 - 16 or small women's; boys shorts and pyjamas sizes 10 to 16, stationary such as A4 exercise books, biros, pencils, sharpeners, erasers and rulers; toothpaste for children under 6 (Aldi has these for under $2), face washers; girl's hair ...Continue reading

11.01.2022 Thank you very much for the car load(!) of gorgeous quilts, wraps, beanies and polo shirts for boys, donated from the wonderful ladies of Let's Unwind at The Community Place and from Jo of St Peters Lutheran College. So much time, skill, and creativity and love in every stitch, to show children in crisis or care who receive our Care Kits that they matter, and their community cares.

10.01.2022 Thank you to all those who voted online a few weeks ago for Chris Rafter, representing Care Kits for Kids Qld and In Stitches Brisbane in the People's Choice section of the CitySmart Waste SMART Awards. We didn't make winner, but hey, finalists are winners too, having been chosen from a huge pool of worthy endeavours. Congratulations to all winners, and finalists.

09.01.2022 Thank you Probus South Pacific #Carindale for inviting us to speak last Thursday at the Belmont Services Bowls Club. We enjoyed meeting you all. 07.01.2022 It was wonderful to catch up with many ladies of the Inner Wheel Australia Wishart club at a recent meeting. These ladies have supported Care Kits for Kids Qld since we began 3 years ago. Many knew Anne George from the former Project Love and Care we all used to support before it closed. It was good to see how, together with so many caring supporters, we have grown in our mission providing Care Kits for any Queensland child in crisis or care, upon request, any time and any where in Queensland. 06.01.2022 A very big thank you goes to the RACQ for their generous grant last year which enabled us to buy backpacks for some regional Queensland orders. Here's a short video... look how fast our volunteers pack! Ok ok, it may be a little sped up, but not much. Getting orders out within days of a request means all our sorting and packing processes, and of course our wonderful volunteers, are super efficient. 05.01.2022 It is so wonderful to see our younger Queenslanders - future leaders? - work with us, standing up in their schools to inform and generate positive action to make a difference for some of the over 10,900 children in crisis or care who are doing it tough. Jack is pictured with Chris Rafter, president of Care Kits for Kids Qld and Councillor Kara Cook - Morningside Ward Other examples of caring young people we know of include 9 year old Ava who galvanised her class to donate stationery, undies and socks towards our Care Kits, a teen spending her birthday money to provide a complete Care Kit, and families taking their children shopping just to buy backpacks and donations for Care Kits.

04.01.2022 Thank you very much to Karl S, Suzi and Caroline, and Anon at the Walter Taylor Ward Office of Cr James Mackay for your very generous donations of backpacks. We need at least a hundred backpacks for children and teens donated every month to meet the demand for Care Kits throughout the year. A few years ago, Care Kits were packed into drawstring bags made by volunteers from donated fabric. However, the new backpacks used over the last 2 years are so much more practical for us to pack and for the children receiving them... but they do cost more. Hence the standing request for backpack donations

02.01.2022 The escalation of Domestic Violence this year has been so saddening. We have seen this reflected in the increasing numbers of our Care Kits requested by DV organisations for the children of families they help. Thank you to all those in our community who contribute time, skills or finances to help put practical love and care for these children into action through our Care Kits.
