21.01.2022 Now that's some fleece! Maddison and her shearing crew took 13 kilos off one overgrown sheep last month. "It’s not any body’s fault this sheep hadn’t been s...horn. Some of the stations our family works on are over 300,000 acres - so during mustering a few sheep (stragglers) can get missed," Maddison said. "So nearly every property we do, there is bound to be some overgrown that were missed the previous year. This one just happened to miss 3." Maddison Jones via ABC Landline

After a wet couple of days this week, fingers are crossed for a bit more rain soon. #carimorsheds #shearingshed #geraldton #midwest #steelsheds #construction #familyownedandoperated #locallyownedandoperated

18.01.2022 Current shed build underway. 10m span x 12 m long x 4.5m high with a 6m span x 8m long lean-to. Managed to dodge the rain to get this one up in good time.

18.01.2022 Site all ready for the shed to go up next week. Thanks to Cross Country Civil for the sand pad and gravel access track. Mint job as always

16.01.2022 A customer asked me how much it cost to do this job.... I answered him: $ 1500 He said: So expensive for this job? I asked: How much do you think it would cost ...you? He answers me: $ 800 maximum... That's a pretty simple job right? !" - For $ 800 I invite you to do it yourself. - But.... I don't know how to. - For $800 I'll teach you how to. So besides saving you $700, you'll get the knowledge for the next time you want - It seemed right to him and he agreed. - But to get started: you need tools: A welder, grinder, chop saw, drill press, welding hood, gloves etc... - But I don't have all these equipment and I can't buy all of these for one job. - Well then for another $300 more I'll rent my stuff to you so you can do it. - Okay, he says. - Okay! Tuesday I'm waiting for you to start doing this work - But I can't on Tuesday I only have time today. - I'm sorry, but I'm only available Tuesday to teach you and lend you my stuff. Other days are busy with other customers. - Okay! That means I'm going to have to sacrifice my Tuesday, give up my tasks. - I forgot. To do your job yourself, you also have to pay for the nonproductive factors. - That is? What is this?" - Bureaucratic, tax, vat, security, insurance, fuel etc. - Oh no!... But to accomplish these tasks, I'm going to spend more money and waste a lot of time! - Do you have them? You can do it to me before?" - Okay! - I'll make you all the material you need. Truck loading is done Monday evening or Tuesday morning you'll have to come by 6 loading the truck. Don't forget to be on time to avoid traffic jams and be on time - At 6??? Nope! Too early for me! I used to getting up later. ... - You know, I've been thinking. Y ' all better get the job done. I'd rather pay you the $1500. If I had to, it wouldn't be perfect and it would cost me a lot more. When you pay for a job, especially handcrafted, you pay not only for the material used, but also: - Knowledge - Experience - Study - Tools - Services - Time to go - punctuality - Accountability - Professionalism - Accuracy - Guaranteed - Patents - Sacrifices - Safety and security - Payment of tax obligations No one can denigrate other people's work by judging prices. Only by knowing all the elements necessary for the production of a certain work can you estimate the actual cost. I did not write this dialogue, but am sharing it to support craftsmen and entrepreneurs.

15.01.2022 Not long now then we can call this one done. 4 stand shearing shed nearing completion.

14.01.2022 Recently completed partial renovation of an old shearing shed. Ripped up the old shearers board and replaced bearers, joists and flooring. Relocated and replaced sheep outlets, catching pen doors and start of catching pens to give shearers more room. Also resheeted wall and installed new sliding door and windows. One happy client.

14.01.2022 Did you know CCC has been leading the field with Recycled Asphalt Profilings (RAP) applications? What is RAP? RAP is basically the top black layer of a ro...ad. When new roads are laid, this top section is machined off and generally heads for landfill. Such a waste, especially when there is opportunity to recycle. As one of the first in the industry to successfully trial the reuse of this product, we have gained substantial experience in its application in a variety of situations. CCC has repurposed RAP for: Private companies as shed floors and entrances, driveways, airstrips and business yards; Main Roads Western Australia at a rest area (Bringo Hill); and City of Greater Geraldton in a public carpark (Lester Ave). RAP benefits include: Eliminates dust and mud; Creating a clean work environment; Reducing surface maintenance; Hard wearing; Cost effective; and Recycled product. Give Rennie a call on 0439 811 764 to discuss details.

14.01.2022 Like father, like (5) sons! These keen young fellas jumped at the chance to crutch lambs before market on their family farm in south-west NSW. Theyre used to ...practising on their teddies, so this is a bit of a step up! Their dad Joel, whos also a shearer, watched on closely and gave them some pointers. : Harriet Jones

13.01.2022 Quick reminder as harvest is in full swing, PLEASE DO NOT let your kids sit on the floor with their back against the windshield!!! I used to work for a guy who...se grandson was doing just that and about 2 mins after the grandson got out something hit the windshield and shattered it. In this pic here the windshield shattered for no reason at all. He said when it popped it scared him so bad and he stopped so quick he bruised his ribs on the steering wheel, he said it probably wouldve thrown someone clear out of the buddy seat. Its fun to take the kids along, but a guys gotta respect this stuff. See more

Found in a height safety catalogue from ATOM Supply Geraldton. (Carimor Sheds recommends not using a hammer to drive in tek screws. Instead use a tek gun .)
