23.01.2022 A vacancy exist for a child to join us at the very popular Pocket Rocket Sports. Every Wednesday we head to Lota and join coach Neil in his wonderful classes. Today the children got to hold and use a Hockey stick and ball. The children are also invited to participate in yoga classes. The wonderful Tracey from Yogamotorskills and kids yoga teacher training takes the childrens minds and bodies on many adventures. The way she links stories to yoga poses is brilliant. Thank you to Kurt who plays the most amazing instruments during the classes, really adds to the atmosphere. Its a a lovely morning at Lota, and there is always time to stop and look at the clouds.

16.01.2022 Here are some facts: At the heart of a child’s social and emotional well-being and growth are their secure relationships with the trusted grown-ups in their l...ives. Children need to feel socially and emotional well, safe and loved, in order to learn and flourish. When they feel secure, they feel happier, have positive attitudes and are more motivated to learn. People who are socially and emotionally healthy are better equipped to take on challenges and maintain positive relationships throughout their lives. So how can we support children’s emotional wellness and growth? In a nutshell, social and emotional development is the process through which people learn about themselves and others, how to understand their emotions, feel and show empathy, maintain positive relationships, work towards goals and make respectful decisions. This process starts at birth and continues throughout adulthood. We, their caregivers, can support their social and emotional wellness and development by: Nourishing children with consistent warmth and affection. Showing them care and respect. Being understanding and responsive to their needs. Listening to them with full attention and without judgment. Accepting their feelings. Spending quality time with them. Modeling for them how to show, name and talk about feelings, manage feelings and behaviors, relate to others, communicate, show empathy and kindness, problem-solve. Encouraging play, and reading books and having conversations about feelings, friendships, family, playing with others, resolving conflicts. Knowing that social and emotional development is a lifelong process: have age-appropriate expectations, and provide coaching and genuine encouragement along the way. By doing these things, we create a strong relationship with our children and they feel loved, seen and heard. They know they matter. They develop self-esteem, confidence, independence and a willingness to take on challenges. They feel love, understanding, kindness, respect, and through experience, learn to offer these to others. They develop a healthy sense of self and healthy ways of being with others. #kindlittlehumansph #socialemotionallearning

15.01.2022 Gotta love winter in QLD, a fun muddy morning

15.01.2022 Young children learn best by interacting directly with their environment through relevant, concrete hands-on experiences. (Bredekamp, 1987; Bybee & Sund, 1982). Another wonderful links activity (Wynnum Family Day Care "Caring for the South East Suburbs") where the children smiled as they stroked and interacted with farm animals. The children also enjoyed a pony ride. Thank you Brisbane Pony Parties

13.01.2022 Today the children built an ambulance station with the blocks and took the sick mummy to hospital. Fire engines where also popular vehicles that the children where driving very quickly around the house with sirens screaming. This play has developed after our wonderful day at the Redland Museum Mighty Machine Day, hosted by Redland Libraries.

13.01.2022 Children learn about the world through their senses. It is very important to provide environments that allow children to explore their sense of touch.

11.01.2022 Home corner is a popular place for the children to play at Feathers and Pebbles Family Day Care. Role play is an important part of child development, as it builds confidence, creativity, communication, physical development and problem solving skills. As you can see by the photos these children were having fun, they got to act out real life roles (feeding their baby) and lots of communication was heard. Im the daddy, make food. In the oven it goes!... We also explored math concepts, the plate was full and the frypan was empty. As they tore the bark into small pieces they were exercising their finger muscles. This will make their muscles stronger which is needed for future writing skills. We are currently looking for more friends to join us, please dont hesitate to message me if you require quality care for your child. Kind regards christine. 10.01.2022 How was the tea party? Miss 3yrs responded with a large grin good This experience was adorable and beautifully organic, driven entirely by the children’s sweet spirts. P.S the cake tasted so good! Mr nearly 2 Yrs found the cake finger licking good. Tea Parties have many benefits:... * Practicing and using fine motor skills- cutting the flowers, pouring the water, handing their small cups. *Social skills- talking to each other, manners, team work and encouraging flexibility in thinking- choosing which table cloth, plates and flowers to use. * Language skills- children get the chance to improve/ practice their talking and listening skills. I wonder what type of pretend tea parties will happen during play next week?

02.01.2022 Childhood is a state of mind that ends the moment a puddle is first viewed as an obstacle instead of an opportunity.
