25.01.2022 From the Blog - January 2012 Physical books versus e-Books for Children http://carmelrowley.com.au/blog/?p=3201 I trust you will enjoy this thought provoking article from the New York Times. www.newyorktimes.com I’m a person who adores print books BUT I consider e-technology as enhancing, rather than replacing my print books. I know we’ve discussed this before...

21.01.2022 What a memory - A fantastic review of Consequences. The perfect encouragement to keep plugging on. A huge thank you Katy Carolan xoxo Jan 2016 - "I've just finished Consequences and what a superb piece it is - thoroughly entrancing, poignant, enthralling and with wisdom of the ages... I couldn't have enjoyed it more! I think I recognise the shades of a few prominent souls in this grand tale! But that is Carmel's Gift - drawing characters that are so real they are familiar. ...Carmel understands humanity well, the good, the bad and the ugly. It's a superb gift to its readers and also to the Arabian industry in drawing a tale to make a most pertinent point, kindly and wisely, that all should heed for a secure future of this incredible breed, both here in Australia and abroad. Fantastic story!!! Now I must grieve it is over!!!" See more

13.01.2022 From 2016 at the blog. One of the thought provoking myths about the Arabian horse Thursday Art-day we enjoy the mythical themed painting Born of the South Wind by the wonderful late Willa Frayser At the Blog: https://carmelrowley.com.au/blog/?p=6870 MYTHS BRING THE UNKNOWN INTO RELATION WITH THE KNOWN Cecil M. Bowra... The Purebred Arabian Horse begins a saga with no recorded beginning as legend would have, he is born of the south wind as if he has always simply been there. You find him etched into the sandstone of the temples of ancient Egypt, extolling his glorious victories, which are a testament to his courage, loyalty and swiftness. The purebred Arabian has a heritage like no other. And as the south wind blows the desert sands across the ages, the tales in each grain praise a horse used for hunting lions, coursing in his chariot, being swifter than the wind and a protector of man Read on at the blog: https://carmelrowley.com.au/blog/?p=6870 See more

13.01.2022 As a breeder of Arabian horses for over forty years and an author of seven books that include the Arabian horses I still sit back and ponder what lies ahead? A STATE OF MIND Carmel Rowley From the Blog: www.carmelrowley.com.au/blog When you sit and think about breeding Arabian horses, you realise this labour of love is quite simply a ‘state of mind’. The definition of a state of mind is ‘a psychological state cognitive state: the state of a person’s cognitive processes....’ In other words, the state of being interested. Naturally being interested begins harmlessly enough. But there’s an allurement about Arabian horses, something to stimulate your curiosity. Possibly the love of horses has always been there, so curiosity turns to interest, interest turns to desire and before you know it all you can think about are majestic, imposing, graceful, enchanting Arabian horses. 11.01.2022 A snapshot from from 'Danika and Yatimah in a Race for Rain' The dusty shrivelled landscape stretched away into the shimmering distance, every kilometre scorched, brown and dustier than she could remember. Dalry was now a world of heat and dirt where even the toughest weeds perished. For the first eight months they stood thin and brittle until one by one they broke and fell, to lay waiting for a wind to whisk them away or be trampled into the ground by pa...ssing wildlife. The flies were the only things that enjoyed the drought. They appeared to hum with happiness as they sucked the moisture from the animals’ eyes. Danika wondered how the heat didn’t singe their tiny wings from their over-friendly, plump bodies. ‘Why won’t it rain Yatimah?’ Even as she spoke, the reasoning part of Danika’s mind told her there had always been times of drought in the Channel Country. Yatimah sensed her owner’s distress and turned her head to push at a leather-clad foot with her velvety nose. It made Danika smile and she leant forward to stroke the grey face. 11.01.2022 From the Blog TURN UP FOR THE BOOKS - IT’S ALL MAGIC! http://carmelrowley.com.au/blog/?p=4321 Photograph by Gregory Egan... I dedicate New Years Eve, 2020 to making magic happen. The thing is, you have to believe in magic to make it happen... Although I've always thought that simmering quietly, underlying everything in this world is a type of magic. 10.01.2022 Happy Wattle Day. Wattle is a symbol of unity and resilience - we need both to get through these difficult Covid-19 times.

09.01.2022 From the Blog - FEBRUARY 9, 2017 YOU CAN STILL FIND A TREASURE for Thursday is Art Day https://carmelrowley.com.au/blog/?p=6973... Isn’t it exciting to think that in this crazy but wonderful world you can still find a treasure? And through the far reaching world of the Internet you can come into contact with some of the most incredibly interesting people. One of these people would have to be Daniel Hunt from the UK. His business is Art; situated at his Fine Art dealings in Sloane Street London. Daniel is a man with a marvellous taste in Art, especially Equine Art. So imagine the coincidence when the latest book I’m writing delves into the art world and out of the blue I have an email about an incredible painting of early equestrian art. It seems a little surreal and very exciting to be contacted from across the world and shown such a rare and wonderful picture. More exciting when Daniel said, I ran into your blog which resonated with me loved it. The growth of the internet does have some amazing benefits! I loved your blog with my horse breeders hat on I’m happily obsessed with it in my small way. I bred and broke and pretrained a horse called Imperial Aviator with my kids. BUT even more exciting that the painting titled ‘The Grey Arabian’ by Jan Wyck is this wonderfully refined portrait of a classic Arabian horse. The work shows all the refinement of a desert bred animal as well as the large luminous eye, tiny pointed ears and the marvellous shoulders I’ve always admired in the Egyptian and Egyptian cross purebred Arabian. I could hardly wait to share the information Daniel emailed for Thursday is Art Day. If you love Arabian horse art as I do I’m sure you’ll enjoy reading the document below as much as I did. I’m also a little bit in love with The Grey Arabian by Jan Wyck and I’m sure there’s someone out there who would adore this remarkable painting for their art collection. Daniel’s details are at the end of the post. Enjoy the information Read on at the blog - https://carmelrowley.com.au/blog/?p=6973 Jan Wyck - The Grey Arabian The Grey Arabian by Jan Wyck oil on canvas 40 x 50 in

09.01.2022 At the Blog from 2011 - https://carmelrowley.com.au/blog/?p=1047 For Thursday Art-Day we celebrate the white Arabian horse ‘Behold the white horse: and he t...hat sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him; and he went forth conquering’ (four horses of the Apocalypse) Excerpt from ‘Tails Carried High’ ‘A steel grey stallion exploded from the bush before skidding to a halt. He sniffed the air, the spirit of his ancestors flashing from his eyes. He searched the paddock for Sonja, rising on hind legs and coming back to earth with a defiant toss of his head, stamping his forelegs. 05.01.2022 Perpetuate the Poetic - Carmel Rowley From the blog : https://carmelrowley.com.au/blog/?p=7103 Horses are a magnet to those who love them. I know I'm drawn to them, my hand has a life of it's own and reaches to stroke any horses fine soft neck. My hand tingles and I transported back in time. Once, probably not that long ago, mankind relied on the horse to simply exist. Over the years I've learnt that if you give horses love, respect, and kindness, the horse will return those ...emotions tenfold. The horse whisperer Buck Brannaman, said a horse is a mirror to your soul. Many different facets of horse ownership set me on the path to write but the emotional involvement always fascinated me. In my current novel I incorporate not only the long standing bond of friendship between women but also the horses ability to assist in healing an individual's soul and mind. So when I think about horses the spiritual is there so how could I not search out some of the marvellous poetry and the thought provoking words written about horses. I decided I must in my own little way ensure more and more people read some of these words. So today I'm blogging the poignant words written by W.G.Palgrave, in his book Central and Eastern Arabia. 05.01.2022 From the blog 8 years ago ... Baby animal pictures give us all a boost. http://carmelrowley.com.au/blog/?p=4095... Baby animal pictures give us all a boost.....I think we all love baby animals but in yesterdays Sunday mail, a new study suggested that putting a picture of a cute puppy or kitten on your desk can make you work harder. I read that researchers found concentration levels can be improved by an average 10 per cent by gazing at images of baby animals. Read on at my blog ...
