24.01.2022 The Carnar-FIN Fishing Competition Committee wishes to regretfully advise that the annual Carnar-FIN Fishing Competition has been cancelled. The safety and health of the community, competitors and volunteers is our main priority. We are showing leadership and doing our bit to stop the spread of Covid-19 throughout Western Australia. As per the announcement of the Prime Minister Scott Morrison, non-essential travel should be postponed or cancelled, therefor travelling to Carna...rvon is deemed as unnecessary. Restrictions have now come into effect for clubs, sporting venues and pubs, therefor, the daily weigh-in and Presentation Night will not be able to occur. There is some uncertainty regarding how long these restrictions will be in place, therefor it has created some difficulty and financial risk for the Carnar-FIN Fishing Competition Committee to continue to proceed with planning. Our event relies on community sponsorship and given the financial downturn the Covid-19 Pandemic has had on our community and nationwide, it would unethical for the committee to seek sponsorship from local businesses at this point in time. We appreciate the understanding of the community, competitors and volunteers. Please stay safe and healthy, we look forward to seeing you in 2021.

22.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE The Carnar-fin Committee is monitoring the advice daily from State Government health authorities regarding the evolving Covid-19 situation. As you know, the Australian Government has determined that non-essential gatherings over 100 people for Indoors and 500 people for Outdoors should be banned until further notice. As the advice is changing daily, it has provided some difficulties for our voluntary committee to continue to plan the event. Carnar-fin is sup...ported and funded by our local community and businesses. At a time of uncertainty, we strongly believe that our sponsors and local businesses need to retain these funds during the time of hardship. Carnar-fin committee will reassess the situation and advice from the State Government on Wednesday 25 March and provide an update. We will not be taking any further registrations until further notice. The health and safety of our community and competitors are our priority.
