25.01.2022 New sculpture, Carrara bianco marble and polished granite ... ‘Might I but moor tonight in Thee’ (from a poem by Emily Dickinson) Showing this weekend, 13-23 October, at Sculptures in the Garden, Mudgee

25.01.2022 The quiet place. My desk, early morning, looking out onto the wisteria in full October flower. Their perfume fills the house. . . . #quietplace #wisteriainbloom #springflowers #perfumedflowers #artistsgarden #solace #quiettime #soultime #gardener #sculptor #escultura #springgarden #artistlife #je_suis_sensuelle

24.01.2022 The artist in hiding ... I am pulling apart my life, demolishing, giving things away, throwing things out, trying to pare back to the essentials as I prepare to move my home and studio. I feel like a turtle, my shell weighed down with barnacles. Hang in there, my artist! We shall meet up again soon!

23.01.2022 ‘Artifact - Mourning Coat for a Continent’ Paper, paint, oil stick, charcoal, recycled wire, desert sand, salt ... So we log the burnt forests, fight over the few vestige habitats left for koalas, blissfully ignore the rising numbers of animal and plant extinctions, sanction a new coal mine and gas mines over precious water aquifers... do our governments really believe in the threat of a swiftly changing climate? The flow of money from the carbon companies, the sweet hope of... another election win ... they’d sell their grandmothers. They’ve already sold the kids. . . . #whatfuture #gutless #youareresponsible See more

19.01.2022 ‘The Wave and the Water’ ... nature’s rhythms. Sandstone on mudstone base. In Sculptures in the Garden, Mudgee this weekend, 12-13 October. I love working with stone. The Earth’s history and energy are in my hands; aeons of time ... sandstone was once the sandy bottom of an ancient sea, mudstone was deposited in layer upon coloured layer by an ancient river. Being a sculptor is an enormous and wondrous privilege.

15.01.2022 Gone. So many have gone. We have to turn this round. We cannot continue like this. Australia? Hello? . . . #canberrabubble #wilfuldenial #blindmen #silentnomore

14.01.2022 Here are photos of our garden 12 months apart, in November last year, and November this year in drought and with severe water restrictions. I weep. I am just trying to keep trees and large shrubs alive. I know a lot of places are far worse off than we are. The first photo is of a sculpture called Rain Catcher, and it can’t, because a deep fissure has been carved into the stone. A comment on our life and times.

12.01.2022 Rain Catcher ... we wish! Summer in Australia .

12.01.2022 Acrobat Dutch carrots Method: Buy punnet of carrot seedlings Dig narrow trench in vege garden. Lay carrots along trench, noting not deep enough, so need to tuck the root in to fit. Fill in trench, water, fertilise, wait a few months as the weather warms. Pull up carrots, ready for dinner, and discover there are no straight lines in nature. (Antoni Gaudi) Btw, they were delicious. ... . . . #laughinthetimeofcovid #noartandgoingcrazy #studiogone #gardeninginstead #gottalaugh #crazygardener #madartistsculptor #artistlife See more

10.01.2022 Flashback ... studio work .... After some fabulous family time away in sunny, warm Brisbane, I’m home again to deep frosts, short days and the itch to start work. So I shall coat up like the Michelin man, begin again the conversations, both visual and tactile, with my stone ... then take up the chisel and hammer ... and begin! Love carving!

10.01.2022 It’s raining! ‘Rain Catcher’ in my garden gently collects water in its carved shallow pool, and then lets it trickle, dribble, flow down the crevice, down the metal column patinated with rust, and into the earth ... A metaphor for our old, dry, weathered land. Carved local marble, steel .

08.01.2022 Working in my art storeroom, repairing, sanding, getting ready to paint the walls, feeling rather weary and washed out, and then the sunlight does a dance across the wall ... just beautiful. And yes, I’ve over-exposed and washed out the photo, rather how I’m feeling! cha ch cha, not!

07.01.2022 Everything’s on fire. What can I say. There seems no point in posting anything at the moment. . . . #onfire #notnornalscomo

06.01.2022 ‘Clouds, Valley, Ravine’ ... in Blue Mountains sandstone, with inserts of aluminium. Evoking a landscape, inviting water into its scooped, hollowed form, the metal reflecting light, creating shadows ... welcomed into its new home in a Mudgee garden. I am delighted. . . .

03.01.2022 ‘Might I but moor Tonight in Thee’ .... Carrara bianco marble and polished granite. Evoking our life’s journey, the marble form can gently turn on its dark sea, like us, seeking meaning, seeking love .... The title comes from a poem by Emily Dickinson, which begins ‘Wild Nights - Wild Nights!’ ...
