25.01.2022 Two small abstracts in acrylic on board 30cm square - $195AUD each including postage in Australia - please DM for overseas postage. Happy to go halves
25.01.2022 I have made two landscapes recently. The pink one is an abstract drawn completely from memory about a certain old cypress pine I have often admired, the other is about Cedar Creek which is behind our house. I have often sketched there so know the area well. The Cedar Creek one is a little more realistic. Which do you prefer?
23.01.2022 Think creating a modern Interior is beyond you? Visit www.carolynmorgan.com.au for your copy of Seven Steps. It will be the best thing youve done all day!
22.01.2022 "Harbour" is now available from Bluethumb. It can be hung either in landscape or portrait configuration and is 80cm x 100cm on stretched canvas. Australian Langridge Oil Paints have been used as the colours are deep and lustrous. https://bluethumb.com.au/carolyn-mor/Artwork/harbour-369479
22.01.2022 Latest wip. Colours still all over the place - just how I like it! Lots of opportunity to make some exciting decisions. Serendipity reigns!
21.01.2022 "Tipping Point" with warm yellow - an unusual colour for me but I do like the geometric shapes. See www.carolynraemorgan.com for details.
21.01.2022 "peace", a figurative work in oils on canvas. 110cm x110cm in cool blues and ochres.
21.01.2022 WIP 4ft x 3ft (121cm x 91cm) painting on canvas. Loads of texture on this one. Heavy texture is not something I usually have in my work. I like the smooth look because I concentrate on making hard and soft edges. Like this one though - what do you think? Texture or no texture?
20.01.2022 "The Lost Boy #2" - I painted 6 versions of this, one over the other. A learning experience to be sure!
20.01.2022 Paint is still wet on this one. It's an abstract landscape based on the time my brother and I went to see a small pothole dam on what used to be our Grandfather's property. We were surprised to find pelicans resting there. They were surprised to see us too and quickly flew away!
19.01.2022 Modern interiors demand tasty abstract landscape art to create an imaginative and relaxing atmosphere. Here are three of my latest abstract landscapes in some very stylish rooms. Plenty of scope to add interesting designer objects to complete the "look".

18.01.2022 The paintings I make go through a number of passes before they are complete. Here's how it worked for my most recent work called "Bridge". I think about an idea before I start, in this case, I wanted to create an abstract impression of the bridge I crossed to and from primary school. Then I make the initial marks on white canvas with an oil stick. Laying in blocks of colour comes next. Then the refinement begins. Lights, darks, cool, warm, differing shapes and textures come into play. Saturated, unsaturated, linework, scratches, and scribbles are also part of the scheme. Finally, the last touches to complete the work.
18.01.2022 My painting walls - so nice to see the latest work in groups, although a figurative project is calling!
16.01.2022 "Starman" - My first using interesting textures that have been built up by the many layers below the final image. Careful attention to saturation and value too.
16.01.2022 Starting a series of 10 landscape-inspired works in oils. This one is based on memories of Queenstown in Tasmania, a landscape in repair.
15.01.2022 Latest work oils on canvas "Flamenco" - absolutely glows!
13.01.2022 A recent challenge through the Art2Life Academy was to come up with a word to describe the feeling you want to have. After much ado, my word is "Energetic". It was "Translucent", but I think "Energetic" is more me. Here's my latest painting called "And still no water in the tank!" Despite all the recent rain, the inflow pipe was accidentally disconnected BooHoo!
13.01.2022 Latest abstract urban landscapes inspired by childhood memories. I plan to explore this deeply personal place for quite a while. The paintings will be 80cm x 100cm in oils on stretched canvas and are rich and colourful.
12.01.2022 I've completed 10 works in my series on abandoned man-made structures vs nature. It's my thing so the work goes on. The next two are underway despite the heat, smoke, dust and housework calling!
10.01.2022 After experimenting on a truly ugly painting for a couple of days, I'm pleased with the final result. 90 x120cm in oils, it's called "Trash Talking" which I did quite a lot of while making it!
09.01.2022 Today's oil painting "Rocket Ship to Mars" is around 77cm square. My aim is to get simpler, looser and bolder! I'm liking this one a lot!
09.01.2022 Finally back after deciding I needed to add new life into my work. Did this by going back to basics and joining 2019 CVP by Nicholas Wilton. I can highly recommend CVP to anyone who is stuck, as I was. I have gained enough to keep me interested in painting forever!
07.01.2022 The Harbour Bridge at its most abstract best! Luscious blues - there is no better sight than Sydney Harbour on a sunny day!
07.01.2022 A close-up of my last painting for 2019. I think more figurative art calls for 2020, along with plenty of abstract expressionist landscapes. An exciting year ahead!
07.01.2022 WIP called "Our first date was a long time ago". It's 3ft x 4ft in oils on stretched canvas. I've given up using photographic reference and enjoying the freedom of pure creation with limits. Also "He lived in the same house his whole life", which was inspired by someone I know.
07.01.2022 I have a new website to showcase my latest work! See www.carolynraemorgan.com and tell me what you think. I'm also writing a newsletter with all kinds of hints and tips, like how to tell a good abstract from a bad one, or why I prefer poly canvas to cotton canvas. I've worked hard over the last few months creating my new series of abstract expressionist landscapes. They are all available and ready for framing.
05.01.2022 Learned my lesson!
04.01.2022 Unprimed poly canvas has produced some interesting textures. Called "Escarpment", it is 80cm x 110cm and uses negative space to enhance the composition. The canvas is un-stretched and ready for framing.
04.01.2022 Want to hear about what I'm up to in my studio? I have a new email newsletter that contains all kinds of interesting stuff including a monthly give-away of a 10cm x10cm abstract painting in oils, ready for framing. Go to my website at www.carolynraemorgan.com to sign up.
02.01.2022 "Love Letter" - oil on un-stretched canvas ready to frame in soft dusky pinks, greys and bone colours - quite romantic and yummy to look at. www.carolynraemorgan.com for more. I'm loving this series - they are such a delight to make!
01.01.2022 "Ladybird" oils on canvas - clean colours and dynamic shapes - just what I wanted to achieve. Never as easy as it looks though. You wouldn't believe the layers beneath, but I do like the way the finished painting looks fresh and uncomplicated.
01.01.2022 I'm supporting other artists on Instagram by joining the Artist Support Pledge. Participants must pledge to buy a painting from another artist once their own sales reach $1000USD. Pretty good deal. I have my eye on several artists that I'd love to collect! See my website for more.
