23.01.2022 Mark Furner has been announced as the Minister for Rural Communities in the new cabinet. Maybe we should be grateful that rural communities are portfolio worthy, maybe. However Mark Furner was born and raised in Brisbane, he was heavily involved as a union official with the Transport Union, Police Union and the National Worker's Union, plus held numerous roles within the Labor Party. So his connection to rural communities is tenuous to say the least, and I feel this is a slap in the face to rural communities devastated by centralisation policies and policies that have undermined the agricultural industry that most rural communities are reliant on. Interestingly, Mark Furner retains the portfolio of agriculture and fisheries. Hasn't he got his work cut out for him. #NQFirst

I sincerely hope your elected member serves you well, and the governing party doesn’t forget regional and rural Queensland... 12.01.2022 NQ First have pledged to increase the resources available to police to prevent and tackle crime...we know that when police are visible, the probability of crime decreases...and while prevention may be better than cure, we will also give police access to strategies that they can use to respond to instances of crime!! 10.01.2022 Today’s travels included Nebo and Coppabella...the election signs are out now in Nebo...I was thankful Nebo received a good shower of rain last week... After that I called into the pub for a cold drink and spoke to quite a few people, mostly visitors enjoying the hospitality of this historic pub, and including Dysart councillor Sandy Moffat who always gets out and about in the Isaac region... Onto the Coppabella store where Mick had asked Rikki-Rae to cook the most delicious ...scones for me...I felt very special - thanks!! I hope to experience that level of hospitality every visit from now on #NQFirst #BurdekinFirst

03.01.2022 The LNP's alleged plan to put the ALP last in every seat must strike fear in the hearts of the north QLD agricultural industry...putting the greens ahead of labor is akin to doing a deal with the devil...there is something really disturbing about a party that promotes itself as the champion of the bush selling it's soul by putting the party intent on destroying farmers ahead on preferences... Or maybe it is just BS by the Labor party, political interference, ALP muckraking...who would know...both parties are so intent on gaining an advantage, securing power, that the biggest casualty in this election will be the truth!! #NQFirst #BurdekinFirst #makeyourvotecount

03.01.2022 One of the first events I assisted with when I moved to Bowen back in 2015 was the Summer 10s...what a great day!! Incidentally, I was helping Mike Brunker, Labor candidate for Burdekin...if there is one thing that brings people together it is sport... The Burdekin boys won it in 2015 slightly edging out the Bowen boys...it would be great to see the Moranbah Miners, Dysart Bulls, Middlemount Panthers or the Mighty Clermont Bears go over there and mix it up a bit...details below!! #NQFirst
