25.01.2022 Who Knew !! Industrial Manslaughter Laws probably do now require the wharf at Cullen Bay to comply after all Work Health Laws are adopted under the National uniform Work Health Act 2011 adopte in NT in 2012. Big Problem for the Mandorah Ferry as well no doubt as now it’s National News. 20.01.2022 Out on the streets of DARWIN CBD wet and miserable for our homeless. We gave out 150 bottles cold water blankets pillows, hot cross buns biscuits and much needed love and smiles. We have 253 individuals registered with Sunset Soup Kitchen from 54 Communities. We know now where most people live and why they are living on the streets. Three men in wheel chairs, six with walkers, two in casts, four children and two babies plus a few drunks but all hungry and thankfully for cold water. Old one asked for cigarettes tonight. 25 pillows and blankets handed out.

19.01.2022 This is a fun night to support the Sunset Soup Kitchen this Saturday. Please bring along your unwanted blankets, sheets and towels? Hosted by Russell Smith with opening music from Johnny Cashed Up... You can expect stand up comedy from Darwin's best local acts as well as juggling, dancing, magic tricks and original music from homegrown artists Raffles all night with great prizes from local businesses.

17.01.2022 Rapid Creek has stopped flowing. The spring that supplies the water has dried up. This is because Marrara swamp has lost capacity to hold water, due to two rea...sons. Frequent late season fires have decimated the vegetation. All the large ironwoods are burnt skeletons. The rainforest has been invaded by grasses. The Northern Territory Government has allowed development in the upper catchment along Boulter Rd and Amy Johnston Avenue to burgeon unchecked. Stormwater now rushes through the swamp. Up to a metre of top soil across the swamp has been washed into the creek. We have never seen the creek like this.

16.01.2022 I sat down with my fellow Port Darwin candidate Leah Potter Independent Candidate for Port Darwin to discuss the issues that have inspired us both to stand for ...the upcoming NT election. DIALOGUE is a series of conversations I'm planning to have between Northern Territory political candidates from all parties. I want to explore ways that we can move beyond partisan politics and go deep into the issues that affect us all and show that we often have more in common than we know. The role of a politician is to be a mediator and this can only happen when listening and talking to each other. Once in power, the only way that we can affect change is also by working together and coming to shared priorities - so let's start that process now. Politics is so formulaic, so let's break the rules and do something different. I hope you find it interesting. Share the vision. Change the conversation. Upgrade the economy. Evolve our democracy. Vote for the future.

02.01.2022 Boundless unemployment? Michael Gunner stood up in Parliament this month and declared that Territory Labor is a government focused on investing in jobs. He als...o repeatedly declared that the NT is in the "bust" phase of a "boom and bust" cycle. He appealed for patience with his government until this turns around. There are currently at least 9 Territory operators who are teetering on the brink of closing down due to outstanding Payroll Tax owed to the government. We are talking around 300 local jobs provided by these businesses. These are long term, local operators who have been employing Territorians for decades. Some of these operators didn't make a profit last financial year due to the NT being in the "bust" phase but they still paid wages and are still liable for the payroll tax. This debt will break these operators, majority of them in the CBD. That many venues closing down will turn our already struggling city into a ghost town and flood it with 300 unemployed. Just months from the election. If Labor let these business go under, they cannot look voters in the eye and claim they're a government who invests in local jobs. There must be an immediate moratorium on outstanding payroll tax and frieeze on interest if these operators are going to make it to the next financial year. If Michael Gunner wants voters to afford his government some slack until the NT can trade out of this "bust" phase of which he speaks, then these long term Territory operators should be given the same. Last week, in parliament, Jeff Collins MLA: Member for Fong Lim asked the question of treasurer Nicole Manison : Member for Wanguri. "What will your government do to help these local businesses that are struggling with the payroll tax burden?" Her answer was pretty much "Nothing" repeated 3 times (blah blah blah about the rate being low and interest rates etc. Nothing about helping local businesses that are struggling RIGHT NOW with this burden) Territorians are watching in despair as more and more local traders close down and more residents relocate out of the NT. They're already angry with the Gunner government over these issues. Let's see how the public react to 9 operators and 300 jobs leaving the Territory because of this tax burden.
