23.01.2022 We love feeling the as an essential service. Did you know that you are also essential to us? Please support small business in the Greater Brisbane Region by take-away, Zoom, re-scheduling and going about your business as best you can.... Many tourism businesses are feeling down tonight, so why not book a getaway for Winter when the Queensland weather is great?

20.01.2022 And now on Sundays, we study. It’s been 20 years since I studied an intro to Family Law subject and I’m circling back to complete a post grad qualification in Family Law. My career up to now has led me down paths of working in property law, planning law, commercial law, estate planning. I deliberately shied away from Family Law because I worried as a younger lawyer I’d take the hits too personally.... Now, with a head of grey hair, my own children and life experience under my belt, I’m ready to see if I’ve got what it takes to build a completely new arm to my law practice. Wish me luck xx

20.01.2022 Please join us in welcoming our new Legal Assistant, Brenna, to the team Brenna is completing her post-graduate law qualifications and is a great addition to our team.

19.01.2022 On our watch list, tonight is the latest episode from the team at Four Corners. If you are a small business owner, we are interested to know: how has Business been for you in the past 6 months? Are you busier than usual or are you quietly worried about the end of Jobkeeper? Are you planning for 2021, or just planning to survive? How can we best help you right now?... Carolyn https://www.facebook.com/watch/

17.01.2022 Hey team, so it’s Wills Week, and I’m sure you all know by now how important I think Wills are....yep, super important. Every week, in my practice I see evidence that: - a written Will helps to keep a family together and avoids a fight... - meeting with a solicitor to prepare a Will is so much more than just a written document. We hold space for people who know they are dying, we listen to their stories and share the journey with them and their family - discovering a loved one has passed without a Will causes major stress for your family left behind However you do it, please consider preparing your Will. You can do it with me, a wonderful colleague solicitor, the Public Trustee (if you do, please don’t appoint them executor $$), use a Will kit (if used correctly they are legit), write your Will on a napkin and have it dated and witnessed as the law requires. Onwards, Carolyn

We’re taking the hint from experts and making culture a focus for the remainder of the year and moving forward in 2021 in our law practice. We took a short break yesterday to enjoy a luncheon with our supporters and also friends from Soundproof Warehouse Acoustic Windows at Fitzy’s Loganholme.

08.01.2022 Some ideas that would be great for the many vacant retail spaces in our local suburbs.

06.01.2022 If you are preparing a Will, your solicitor may have suggested the option to prepare a Letter of Wishes or Statement of Wishes. A Letter of Wishes can provide guidance and direction to your executors and the guardians of your young children. It is not part of the Will and is not a legal document, but it can be a helpful resource for your family. PM our page if you would like more information on the information to include in your Letter of Wishes.... https://www.carolynryder.com/letter-of-wishes/

05.01.2022 Things we are grateful for today... 1. School's back! 2. We just outsourced our tech headache and supported another small business in the process 3. We are moving into a larger office space, within the same building = another excuse to decorate... What are you grateful for today?

04.01.2022 Choice have released their annual Shonky Awards. No surprise to see InvoCare topping the list, my shares have been very poorly performing. https://www.choice.com.au/shonky-awards

04.01.2022 What’s that you say? It’s now more affordable than ever to work with us when you sell or buy your home. Thanks to the wonders of technology, we’ve streamlined our processes and reduced our costs for all Conveyancing matters that settle electronically on the PEXA platform.... Our fees for electronic settlements are now $550 inc GST for a house sale and $770 for a house purchase. Thanks Carolyn . . . *the fine print: third party costs extra, paper settlements attract an additional fixed charge, terms and conditions apply

01.01.2022 It’s almost the end of financial year...how did that happen?!! A reminder from the ATO to make the most of your small business concessions before 30 June. A cautionary note from me to make sure your claims for working from home expenses are legitimate and reasonable, as these claims will be greatly increased (and presumably scrutinised) because of the pandemic.... https://www.ato.gov.au//Take-advantage-of-small-business/
