25.01.2022 Seacliff hoodies update: The hooded plover pair have made another nest and laid 2 eggs. Unusually, the one surviving chick from the first breeding effort this s...eason is now a juvenile but still with its parents. It has not been lucky in its short life as it has twice been attacked by gulls (1 silver gull, 1 pacific gull) and this week it got some twine and a bit of wood wrapped round its foot and was limping so had to be caught and have that removed (thank you Adelaide Zoo vet and team for that). The message here is-fishers and beachgoers, please pick up and take away your own and any other rubbish you see to keep the birds safe. The juvenile is now ok but underweight and rather inactive so the adults are allowing it to stay with them for now. It will be interesting to see if that changes when the eggs hatch later this month.

10.01.2022 A reminder. Dogs must be on the lead on the beaches from 1 December to 28 February and Easter between 10am-6pm. Off lead dog beach all year from 200 mtr north of Normanville jetty to 200 mtrs south of Carrickalinga creek. See Council website for more information on all beaches

10.01.2022 Drive inspiration! Take Main South Road and head towards Myponga you’ll know you’ve hit the God's Country when you see the giant Buddah! Wind your way around th...e Sellicks Cutting (1). Stop in Myponga, if you’ve got kids go for a play at the Nature Playground in the Main Street or walk the Myponga Reservoir Trail (2 & 3). Treat yourself to a beer at Smiling Samoyed Brewery. Continue the adventure south towards Yankalilla (4) home to the famous Bakery, great pub, The Little Cheese Room and a thrift shoppers dream! Stop here for lunch, explore the streets or continue to Normanville for more great food and coffee options. A trip to Normanville is incomplete without doing a ‘beach cruise’ to Normanville Beach (5) down Jetty Road. After refueling head out on Hayflat Road to Ingalalla Waterfalls (6). The Waterfalls are within 500m of the car park or choose to do an extended walk around the forest. Return via Normanville and head to Carrickalinga (7), again a beach cruise is a must! If you can bring yourself to leave (we recommend you stay and night or two as we have so much more to explore) head home via Forektree Road and if the timing is right stop in at Forktree Brewing (8) to stock up on local beer before you leave. (It's best to book before visiting). 06.01.2022 Town of the week = Myponga! Myponga is home to the famous Myponga Reservoir Walking trail. The town is the centre of rich grazing and dairy country, where herds... of Friesian cows are often joined at dusk by mobs of grey kangaroos. The town is 58 kilometres south of Adelaide. The name derived from the Aboriginal word maippunga meaning locality of high cliffs. Head to Myponga via Carrickalinga and enjoy views of the coast from hilltop lookouts - some of the best in South Australia. Myponga offers spectacular views of the town’s reservoir and the coast. When in Myponga, be sure to visit the Myponga Country Markets, open each weekend and the Smiling Samoyed Brewery. Attractions in Myponga also include Myponga Beach, kangaroo spotting, a number of conservation parks and the Nan Hai Pu Tuo Temple of Australia Inc. : 1. row_an_james 2. @volantus_australis 3. @volantus_australis 4. @cbocky See more

06.01.2022 Just a hint if you haven’t thought about it. Even if a place is dog friendly inside I still travel with my own mattress protector, bedding and drop sheets to co...ver lounges etc. It makes sure the place is left really clean and I think if more people did this then more places would start letting our babies inside.
