19.01.2022 We were so happy to be involved in the Buy a Bale HAY RUN last week by lending a hand with our loader and team members. Even with the desperate conditions surrounding us, everyone still pitches in to help each other.

16.01.2022 Thanks again to every member of the Carroll Cotton Co team/NSW Rural Fire Service Fire & Rescue NSW Station 314 Gunnedah firefighter/neighbour/friend/Woolworths employee (especially Tina) and the Gunnedah Shire Council workers who helped us today.

14.01.2022 Growers encouraged to ‘Be a good mate, stop it at the gate’ The pickers may be away for another season, but being aware of biosecurity risks never stops. Pests,... weeds, diseases, and the threat of exotic pests are always present and have the potential to spread throughout a region at any time of year if biosecurity risks aren’t managed. Keep an eye out for a video series on biosecurity that CottonInfo will be sharing later this year which highlight the practices of a number of people in the industry, and how they practically implement biosecurity practices. 11.01.2022 NSW growers: heavy vehicle rego discounts announced The New South Wales Government has announced a suite of rebates and refunds on heavy vehicle registration fo...r farmers. The announcement came after the government changed how registration charges were calculated for producers. Those changes will come into effect on November 1, 2018. Partial refunds are being offered on previous registrations going back three years. On average this will save people $2,100. Farmers will also receive free registration over the next two years on heavy vehicles. The government says because of the drought conditions, producers will also receive a heavy vehicle registration rebate for the next two years. Read more: https://bit.ly/2MFHOrO

06.01.2022 For Aussie farmers, moving large machinery like tractors, harvesters and spray rigs on public roads is a part of farming life. We know driving around Large Agri...cultural Vehicles (LAVs) can be daunting, so today we’re launching the Common Roads, Common Sense campaign to promote safe sharing of our roads amongst all drivers whatever the size of the vehicle! To help keep everyone safe, be sure to: Look out Slow down Take care For more info, visit: https://farmers.org.au/campaign/common-roads-common-sense/

05.01.2022 Yesterday, I needed to speak to someone. I was overwhelmed by emotion so I reached out to Virtual Psychologist via phone. This is a free service that offers qu...alified and experienced counselling via phone, chat, email and text. It is available 24/7 to any drought affected farmers. Just to have a chat to Dervla helped calm me down and make a plan to get through the rest of my day. Dervla made me realise I needed some time out and that I was experiencing Vicarious Trauma from the mornings events. I am only human and can only be strong for so long. It is ok to ask for help. To contact this service via PHONE on 1300 665 234 or TEXT on 0488 807 266. Please help spread this message to help others understand help is just a phone call or text away and they are not alone. http://virtualpsychologist.com.au/home/ https://www.skynews.com.au/details/_5817776398001

03.01.2022 *IMPORTANT UPDATE ABOUT THE DROUGHT - PLS SHARE* Our farmers are the best in the world and we will always have their backs. This morning we announced some fur...ther measures to help our farmers struggling with the drought. To everyone who has called, messaged, emailed and shared posts on social media; we hear you, I hear you, and most importantly our farmers - like the Miles Family - hear you. Here is what we are doing: 1. Providing lump sum payments of up to $12, 000 through the Farm Household Allowance. 2. Changing the assets test to allow thousands more farmers to access support. 3. Providing more funding for mental health services that offer private, professional advice accessible from anywhere, at any time. We can’t make it rain. But we can ensure that our farmers and their communities get the support they need to get through the drought and get back on their feet.
