24.01.2022 COFFS HARBOUR CITY COUNCIL TO TAKE OVER POOL MANAGEMENT The Coffs Harbour City Council has announced they will transition to taking over the management of Cou...ncil owned pools from Lane 4, due to the financial impacts of COVID-19. Council has decided to take over management of the pools from mid-October to ensure this vital recreational service continues to be provided to the community and visitors," Group Leader Financial Services and Logistics Mark Griffioen said. Lane 4 CEO Todd McHardy said the business has been severely impacted by the pandemic, leading to a loss of revenue, membership and swim school enrollment," "Coffs Harbour City Council have agreed to release Lane 4 from this lease due to the extreme financial pressure COVID-19 has created. Mr McHardy said staff will be eligible to seek employment with Council at the appropriate time subject to operational needs. : Coffs Harbour City Council

22.01.2022 Metaqua is recommencing at the Coffs Harbour Olympic INDOOR Pool next Monday the 27th July 2020. Classes at this stage will be on a Monday & Thursday(ONLY) at 12noon. More classes will be added over the following weeks.

19.01.2022 Day 8. Exercise . Sorry no photos or reporting. We had to rush home to save our little Dexster herd from some mongrel dogs. Chased them through a 4 strand barb...ed wire fence. Cows and calves ok. Just very stirred up and happy to see us. Reminded neighbour of the farmers law...We don’t have dogs that chase animals on a farm. Repair 30metres of fence on our list tomorrow. 16.01.2022 Dear Metaqua Friends, I do hope this quick update finds you all coping Ok with our new way of life and that you have managed to make a few positive changes along the way. Stepping back to basics has definitely shown me how little one really needs outside their health and a pool to swim in. Philip and I started out riding our bikes, but because we can only peddle on flat ground due to our body ailments, I found we could bludge too much so we put the bik...es back under the house and started walking. For us it’s a much better form of exercise, however I hope it’s getting close to putting the runners back in the cupboard and pulling the swimmers back on. Even though we have been diligent with walking about 20km a week it’s just not as good as kicking up and down the pool or doing The Chair. I’ve definitely lost some strength and muscle tone, and maybe just maybe, have put on a few pounds. However I know as soon as I can get back in a pool these problems will be solved and I’ll be back in my happy shape again. Coffs Harbour Memorial Pool The outdoor 50 Metre pool has re-opened. The restrictions there are I swimmer per lane for 45mins and no change room. You can make a booking online or by phoning the pool. The pool temp is sitting at 18 degrees. I don’t get into water less than 20 degrees, even with a wetsuit on, I find anything less than 20 gives me a instead headache. The Indoor 25 metre pool is currently empty waiting a new liner to arrive in from overseas. Fingers crossed it doesn’t take months to arrive. The Coffs Aquatic Centre Re opens on Monday the 25th May to Squad swimmers ONLY with again only 1 swimmer per lane for 45 mins and must come dressed in swimmers. No accompanying persons are permitted inside the pool building at any given time. There is some hope that when Stage 3 is implemented I may be able to secure some Metaqua space for us. I will let you know as soon as I get the green light. Till then please take care of yourselves, wash your hands and keep your distance. AND KEEP MOVING AWAY FROM THE FRIG. Hello Metaqua Friends, Finally we have a small window of opportunity to start back doing some Metaqua. Luckily Metaqua can be classified as squad swimming, so Danny from Coffs Aquatic Centre on Park Beach Rd has given me a couple of days and times we can ...utilise however there are a few regulations that we must adhere to. You must come ready to swim. Getting changed after your swim is NOT permitted. I suggest you bring some warm clothes to put on over your swimmers to go home in or you could test your carpark changing skills. There will be ONLY one swimmer per lane. There are 5 lanes available. Each Metaqua session will be 45 minutes long. Each Metaqua session will be 45 minutes long.d. The classes will be on a Tuesday and Thursday starting from Tuesday the 16th June at 10am and 11am. Tuesday and Thursday night classes will resume again once lane number restrictions are permitted to swim multiple persons per lane. If you are ready to get back in the water please contact me to secure your spot. $13 per swim At time of writing it is still unclear when the Coffs Memorial indoor 25 metre pool will be re-opening, as they are still carrying out repairs. Have you been getting on the scales weekly to check you haven't gained any weight ? The Covid-19 challenge is to come out the other side the same weight. Boosting your fitness level again wont be as hard if you aren't having to shift weight gain as well. Eat only what you deserve....
