02.01.2022 The current events taking place in the US have reminded us what is equally important here in Australia: developing a balanced, diverse view of the world, and how it is experienced by different groups of people. We begin early with racial literacy at our centres, embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in our curriculum year-round. This week, our centres have also been participating in National Reconciliation Week - a time for non-Indigenous and Indigenous... peoples to come together to build and to celebrate the respectful relationships they share. Children have been learning about ceremonies and artefacts, listening to indigenous music, learning some Aboriginal language and symbols, going on reconciliation walks, hearing stories by Aboriginal authors and so much more. We are so grateful to our educators who continue to enrich the learning experiences of children in this way, developing a world full of empathy, kindness and acceptance of diversity - the kind of world we all want to live in.
