22.01.2022 This week at Kindy we have been talking about and tasting the fruits and vegetables from the orange group. This is part of the eat a rainbow program we have incorporated in our planning cycle. Yesterday and today we made pumpkin soup with the children , it has lots of orange vegetables in it . Below is our recipe if you want to try it at home. It is delicious

20.01.2022 Cooking A reminder of how much children are learning even when they are taking part in day to day tasks such as cooking #earlyyears #eyfs #cooking #learning #learningthroughplay

19.01.2022 These are super cute ideas to do with your children.

17.01.2022 Please make sure you are keeping your children home if they are feeling unwell. If you, your child or anyone else in your family comes down with cold like symptoms then please get tested.

17.01.2022 Latest information from the Government.

17.01.2022 Look at the differences between a typical preschool childs hand (left) and a typical 7 year old hand (right). Want to know why a preschool aged child isnt abl...e to write yet? This is why! Their hands are still developing and are not fully formed. So what should they be doing to support this? PLAY!! Playdough, colouring, cutting, gluing, playing outside, digging in dirt, sensory play, dress up play, science experiments, beading, puzzles, throwing balls, etc. All of these things help their hands develop. When they are physically ready to write, they will! No need to rush them, they will show you when they are ready! See more

16.01.2022 This week at Kindy we had lots of fun painting using natural resources .We collected the plants and twigs from our garden and used them as our paint brushes. They explored the different patterns the nature paint brushes transferred onto the paper. Each brush created a different textured pattern on the painting. The learning benefits from this activity include self-expression with paint, eye and hand coordination, fine motor development, experimenting and exploring with a new paint tool .This activity allows our children to explore their creativity and imagination .They use play to investigate, project and explore ideas.

16.01.2022 Anzac Day is a little bit different this year... but there is still the opportunity to get involved and create your own Anzac Day spirit in your driveway. Who is planning to be up at dawn?

This is a challenging time, and the Department has approved the following: Thursday 19th and Friday 20th of November - School/Preschool Closure Days. Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th of November - Pupil Free Days. This means your children are not to come to School or Preschool for the next 4 Kindy days. More advice will come out during this time. This is a challenging time, however we will support each other and our children through this time. Take care of yourself

11.01.2022 - R U OK? - What a year 2020 has been this far and we are reminded on this day that its important to check in on one another and ask R U OK? Its very normal to not feel OK in challenging times such as these. A conversation could change a life! ... Some people in your world might be feeling anxious, worried about when things will return to normal. We encourage you to use this time to pick up the phone, video call, SMS or post online to check in and see how those in your world are travelling. If youre feeling well and able to support someone, reach out and let them know youre there to help now and for as long as it takes. Please know that as a family, our DHK community, that we are always here if you need someone to talk to or just listen.

11.01.2022 Dont forget that next Tuesday, the 22nd of September, we have Glenn from Mobile Junk and Nature Play, visiting us at kindy. Remember to bring in your consent form and $5.00 as soon as possible.

11.01.2022 This week at kindy the children have been creating these beautiful symmetrical butterfly paintings by adding paint to one side of their piece of paper. They folded the paper in half then smoothed the paper to flatten it. When they opened the paper they were amazed to see a butterfly. :) The children made predictions and generalizations about their daily activities using patterns they generate. This activity is linked with our current book focus this term "The very Hungry Caterpillar."

10.01.2022 Dear Families, We hope that you have all coped as well as possible during this unusual holiday period. There have definitely been some encouraging signs, in regards to the transmission and recovery rates of the virus over the last two weeks. Hopefully we begin moving towards a sense of normality in the near future. ... In regards to Kindy for Term 2, the message from the Government has not changed - families that want or need to send their child to Kindy can, and those that want or need to keep their child at home may do so. This is an extremely personal and individual family decision and there is no judgement either way. Whatever the case, no child will be disadvantaged as we are extremely well prepared to cater for both learning environments. Please see the post below for the latest advice from Health and the Department for Education. Please Note: We have not been updated yet in regards to Occasional Care but will notify families as soon as we receive further information. Thank you

10.01.2022 Attention Families The Premier today announced that schools and preschools will reopen to all students on Monday 23 November. As a result our Kindergarten and Occasional Care Programs will be open and operating as normal. We will not be offering an alternative home-based learning program. ... As the Chief Public Health Officer said, just because the hard lockdown is being lifted this does not mean that the risks associated with COVID-19 have passed. As a result we will minimise the number of people coming and going from our site. Therefore, we ask you to please drop and collect your child at the gate and maintain the appropriate physical distance from other adults. Thank you for your support over the last couple of days. We look forward to seeing you back at the centre on Monday.

04.01.2022 Full speed ahead at our ‘Wheels Day’. Sooo much fun

04.01.2022 . A lot of warnings have been issued for children to stay off social media, specifically Tik Tok, d...ue to a graphic self harm video thats circulating. While we do recommend that parents monitor their children or keep them off the platform, its a band-aid solution for a long-term issue due to the fact that distressing videos constantly circulate online. Instead we would like to encourage all parents and guardians to -: 1 . Understand that they will most likely use it, whether you understand the appeal or not. Ask them what apps they use, find out why they like those apps. Start a dialogue so you can start understanding why its important to them. The more you understand about it, the more you can stay across it. 2 . If you know what apps theyre using, help them make their profile as secure as possible, whether its TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitch or Reddit (the list is endless). You can do this with the help of this eSafety Commissioner guide: www.esafety.gov.au/key-issues/esafety-guide 3 . Be open and willing to listen. Make them aware of Kids Helpline Official (1800 55 1800), Beyond Blue (1300 22 4636), headspace (headspace.org.au) and Lifeline (13 11 14) so they know they have a place to contact if they dont feel comfortable approaching you. 4 . Kids often create a social media profile that they make visible to you, but keep their actual profile under a fake name hidden from you. Again, this is why we encourage you to talk to your child openly and honestly. 5 . If your child watches YouTube videos, please be aware theres no guarantee that this content will be safe for kids. People can easily edit distressing videos for kids that slip through the filters. If you cant monitor your child on YouTube then let them watch Netflix kids instead as it has stronger filters. SBS and ABC iview are both free alternatives for childrens online content. The Office of the eSafety Commissioner is a great resource for parents, guardians and kids: www.esafety.gov.au
