21.01.2022 The terrible twins as work!!

21.01.2022 All dog owners beware!!

20.01.2022 Thank you to Clair Needham for this - PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU'RE CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR AN IG I read this this morning and I have to agree on how correct it is even though our own guidelines grow and change but we have been structured from the start.... The difference between ANKC and other registries Author is unknown. Thought i would write a piece on Registered Breeders. These days we have many sellers call themselves "Registered Breeders" but the name Registered can mean many things. Example: *Council Registration *State Animal Registration: Source number, Bin Number *Registries that are commercially run- like AAPDB, MDBA, RPBA, *Breed Registries like ABCA for breeds that don't quite fit into being recognized as pure breed pedigree .... Lots of abbreviated names and any wonder buyers get confused. None of above are world wide recognized Pedigree Dog Breeding Organisations. They are simply a name, a membership. Admittedly MDBA has got some code of ethics, most are just pay a fee and join to get a number. You can breed any dog on these registries, cross pure, and poor examples of the breed, nothing stopping them. Australian National Kennel Council Ltd, the administrative body for pure breed canine affairs in Australia. Affiliated branches are Dogs Vic, Dogs Qld, Dogs NSW etc. They have strict guidelines and regulations to assure your puppies are indeed Pure Breed with 3 generation pedigree to show your puppies linage. They have breed standards and run shows to show that dogs conforming to best of the breed. While papers to some mean nothing, they are there to assure temperament and breed standard of your puppy is maintained, pure breed dogs are more predictable than cross breeds in health and also temperament. ANKC Breeders uphold to the new puppy farming laws and we also have guarantees against testable conditions (DNA). Code of ethics about what ANKC breeders can and can't breed, with age restrictions, amount of litters whelped and that list is rather extensive so i won't list it all. What you might not know is that we also have on site inspections of our properties and how our dogs are raised and that all our paperwork is managed correctly. Not to mention we can't just sign up over night and become a breeder, we have a exam to test our knowledge on all aspects of breeding etc and must get a 80% pass rate. Also got to be a member for 12 months, so it's not like other registries. ANKC also don't go around charging $8,000 for a cross breed mutt, just because they are popular. It takes a lot of money creating pure breed dogs to a high standard, hiring studs, reproduction and doing their best to create the best example of the breed, not just throw two dogs together to create designer dogs. So when you see the word "Registered Breeder" query are they ANKC registered?

19.01.2022 Thank you to Fiona Fifi Richards for putting this on Australian Dog Show Chatter - WORTH ANOTHER GIGGLE The Dog Show FIRST TIME AT A DOG SHOW First time at a dog show, I'll tell you quite plain... I'll never, no never, go near one again. The breeder said "Show him" when I bought my dog I showed him alright, the whole place was agog. They gave me a number, they gave me a pin But I couldn't bear to stick the thing in. So I rushed to a shop and bought some clear glue And I stuck the card onto his back in the loo. We arrived at the ringside to find we were first In the dog pup class (this part is the worst) We marched in together as fast we was able Arrived at the judge who said "Up on the table". This really surprised me, my skirt was quite tight And I just couldn't make it, try as hard as I might. The judge looked quite worried, he said "Listen here, Put you dog on the table, not you my dear". By now I was trembling, I felt such a fool But I said to myself "Play it cool... play it cool". "How old" said the judge, I heard it quite clear, Well really, I thought, and said "Thirty next year". The Steward, poor fellow, threw a kind of a fit, He spluttered, he coughed, and his eyes ran a bit. "I'd have that cough seen to" I said to him when He'd finally stopped ... then he started again. "Once round the ring dear, as fast as you can" Said the judge, so I did, I just ran and ran. But when I arrived (out of breath I'll admit), The judge said "Your DOG dear, take your dog", I felt such a twit. Off round once again, I kept my head bent Oh the shame, my pup stopped and crouched, he just went and he went. A lady came running with bucket and spade, With manure so pricey, has she got it made! We came back to the judge who said with a frown "Stand your dog" I said "Please Sir, He's not lying down". "You can take the First Place Stand" he said ... I said "ta" What a job I had getting that stand in the car! See more

19.01.2022 Very important info regarding Essential oils that should NOT be used with animals around

17.01.2022 I do not breed for quantity, only for quality and have a great love for the breed. I have been mentored for the past 8 years by Annette Johns of Rhodeholme Italian Greyhounds and am very grateful for her help and her wonderful boys, one of whom was bred by me. My SA Canine Association number is - 5100039209

04.01.2022 Before you get your first puppy, take this test to find out if you can cope with living and looking after your puppy. (Best taken in the autumn or mid-winter.) ...1. Buy a lead and tie it to a big stone, walk around dragging the stone behind you. If there’s a big hill nearby, walk with the stone in front of you and try not to get dragged downhill. 2. Get up at 5am, go out in the pouring rain and walk up and down a muddy path for 7 minutes, repeating good dog, go pee, poo poo, quickly please. 3. Stuff your pockets with plastic bags and pick up all the poo you can find. 4. Start wearing your shoes indoors, especially during muddy times. 5. Collect leaves off the ground and spread them on the floor. 6. Carry sticks and branches indoors and chop them up on your carpet. 7. Pour cold apple juice on the rug and floor....walk barefoot over it in the dark, and clean it up before going back to bed. 8. Drop some chocolate pudding on your carpet in the morning and then try to clean it in the evening. 9. Wear socks that you have run through a blender. 10. Jump out of your favourite chair just before the movie ends and run to open back door. 11. Cover all your best clothes with dog hair, dark clothes with blond hairs and light clothes with dark hairs. 12. Tip all just ironed clothes on the floor. 13. Make little pin holes in all your furniture, especially chair and table legs. 14. When doing dishes, splash water all over the floor and don't wipe it. 15. Spread toilet paper all over the house when you leave the house and tidy up when you get back home. 16. Forget any impulse holidays and/or breaks. 17. Always go home straight after work or school. 18. Go walkies no matter what the weather, and inspect every dirty paper, chewing gum and dead fly you might find. 19. Wake up at 3am. Place a correct size bag of flour on top of yourself and try to sleep, whilst wiping your face with a dishcloth, which you have left next to your bed in a bowl last week. 20. Several times a day, poke your hands and arms with a needle. 21. Every time you leave a room having left food unattended on a countertop or table, just toss it all straight onto the floor when you go back into that room. Repeat every day over 6 months and if you still think getting puppy sounds like a good idea, Congratulations, you might be ready to get your puppy!
