25.01.2022 Friday fun dressing up as some 'Curious Creatures, Wild Minds' for the CBCA Book Week! Awesome effort to our students and teachers for not only loving reading but also writing and speaking about their characters.

25.01.2022 Our early birds kindergarten orientation continues tomorrow. It was lovely to welcome Tarsha and Levi to our school last Thursday. They both had a fabulous morning and their smiles were beautiful . WOW did we have fun playing, exploring, playing, listening to books, playing, painting a polar bear, playing, doing an ice melting science experiment, playing, dancing and more playing.

24.01.2022 Thank you and Farewell to Mrs Hilary Parker After many years of providing support and education to our students through scripture lessons and listening to and reading to kids in both the library and the classroom, Mrs Parker has decided to retire. It has been our wonderful pleasure having Mrs Parker come to school every week. She always has lovely smile and is keen to see everyone. The school looks forward to inviting Mrs Parker to our numerous school events once COVID-19 restrictions have eased.

24.01.2022 Cassilis now has wicking beds! This means that we can water out plants from below and above! Wes and Carl from Warrumbungle National Park Environmental Education Centre made the beds and then came to teach us how to create and care for our vegetable, herb and worm garden. The students and staff had the BEST day and we can’t wait to discuss and write about it tomorrow....after our muscles have rested tonight. ... I wonder how our plants are growing right now? A HUGE thanks to Wes and Carl. You are both agricultural, science legends. Thanks also to Angus for lending a .

23.01.2022 Yummy, Yummy Sausage Rolls Thanks Mrs Nairne for sharing your secrets on how to create one delicious sausage roll. All of our students loved them as did Mrs Burgess.

23.01.2022 Rewards Day Fun At the end of last Term, students enjoyed a lovely picnic lunch and dessert which was all made with their own hands and using some fresh salad from our garden. Some of the students had commented that they had never had a picnic before so Mrs Nairne thought it would be a great opportunity to experience one.

22.01.2022 Wishing everyone a very safe and happy holiday filled with lots of wonderful family time.

21.01.2022 Enjoy spending lots of time and making more memories with your kiddies today. We hope that you liked your gifts and cards.

21.01.2022 Lots of practising making AB and ABC patterns. There are many ways to practice patterns. Staff and students played a couple of games of Mastermind where you need to guess the pattern. It was great fun and excellent learning.

20.01.2022 Some great ideas to keep active.

19.01.2022 We are delighted to welcome our new students and their family to our wonderful school. The girls also have a sister who will join us next year in Kindergarten.

18.01.2022 We write every day at Cassilis because it is important and yes sometimes hard. Writing outside sometimes can be a nice way to increase the enjoyment of the writing. Students wrote about a spring garden after reading the book Isabella’s Garden.

18.01.2022 Are you keen to work at our wonderful school? Permanent 1 day a week GENERAL ASSISTANT position closes next Friday 18 September. Apologies for the delay in advertising the job which opened last Friday. ... https://iworkfor.nsw.gov.au//general-assistant-part-time-o

17.01.2022 A great article to help in the school holidays. Some times things won't work because your child is running on empty and they get flooded with cortisol the stress hormone - they are not being bad or naughty, just not coping.

16.01.2022 Cassilis finds GOLD at Red Hill! What an amazing day of learning we had today stepping back in time to 1872 in Gulgong. From learning about Tom Saunders (the first to find gold in Gulgong), to Commissioner Brown (the lucky man who got to give out the licenses to mine for gold), to looking down the 20m mine ‘octopus’ shaft drop, to dressing up, to creating shelters, to panning for our fortune amongst the rocks and water, to wandering through the Opera House in torch lig...ht and to exploring the incredible Holtermann Museum filled with photographs, the student had an absolute ball!!! Many thanks to the wonderful people at Red Hill Environmental Education Centre and Gulgong Holtermann Museum and to the Anderson family for their van . Our favourite parts were: Summer- The museum was amazing Paul- Gold panning and I also didn’t know that old cameras were so heavy Gordie- It was all fun Olivia - Seeing the Opera House in the dark Skye - Gold mining and finding a tiny speckle or gold Eleyce- The Opera House and museum where I learnt that you had to not smile and hold your pose for 8 seconds so a photo could be taken Coooer- Making the tent shelter Ben- Every single thing Levi- Everything was fun Skylah- Dressing up

14.01.2022 A huge thank you to Kings Langley Public School in Sydney for yet another very generous donation of books! There is no better gift than giving children books to take home and love. There are also some books at the Post Office for our community to enjoy.

14.01.2022 What’s Your Fraction? Students created their own fraction city following a list of requirements. It was a great activity in students working collaboratively, creatively and problem solving.

10.01.2022 From classroom desks to dining room tables. See how the students, parents and teachers from these schools navigated online learning, and what they learned together along the way. #EdWeek20 *Posted by the NSW Department of Education*

09.01.2022 Nick Bland described the bulldozer as a big yellow monster in his book ‘The Very Super Bear’. Students in Kindergarten and year 1 learnt more about the bulldozer and practiced using adjectives to describe it. They learnt how much fun you can have learning in lots of different ways! These ways included reading the book several times, answering questions, watching Catie’s Amazing Machines on ABC Kids, writing, creating a model, drawing, finding readers about bulldozers and driving a bulldozer.

08.01.2022 Today on Remembrance Day we remembered all who volunteered, sacrificed, served, fought and died for our freedom. LEST WE FORGET

08.01.2022 Every Student is Known, Valued and Cared for and Shines! A unique and special feature of our school is that all students complete Individual Education Programs ran by Mrs Nairne. The teachers select a goal in reading, writing and mathematics determined by either extending students’ strength or working on an area needing further practice. A wonderful addition to this Program is that students get to choose their own personal learning goal. This is where the true magic ... happens and we get an insight into what takes our students interest and what they love. Students recently presented their personal learning. These were recorded to showcase to our families. The students were so proud and so they should be. They were amazing! Thank you to Mrs Nairne for the support, encouragement and guidance that she shows every student every day. Students and staff loved hearing the presentations and learning more about each other. It was a beautiful moment in learning. I would love to let you know what the students have chosen next but they won't even give me a little hint. We will all have to wait and see.

07.01.2022 To celebrate National Grandparents Day, students read several books featuring grandparents and discussed and wrote about the special memories they have with them. Grandparents play a very important role in our children’s’ lives.

05.01.2022 In the classroom, students were given the challenge to create an igloo after reading the book ‘Immi’s Gift’. The results were marvellous from our engineers!

05.01.2022 Cassilis Public School acknowledges the traditional owners of the lands on which we are given the opportunity to teach our students. We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging. Today marks the start of NAIDOC (National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee) Week. This years theme Always Was, Always Will Be recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years.
