25.01.2022 Watch out for those pesky ants. Even during the colder weather they come into the house looking for somewhere warm and dry to live This is a customers garage. They lost their lighting. Found the reason why. Unfortunately its not a quick fix. We will have to venture further and inspect the wiring in the roof.

24.01.2022 Had the pleasure of returning to this amazing property with a one off build in progress. Check out the massive reclaimed hard wood timbers. And those views will you. All the way across from the Dandenongs. To The city and the bay. We worked out today this is our 5th year on return to this property. Unfortunately the owners had a lot of trouble with their previous builder and glass installation. The BAL rating is extremely high up here. And this wasnt adhered too. Making progress halt for some time Luckily, they are extremely happy with their sparky.

24.01.2022 We are currently experiencing a power outage due to this afternoons storms. Power back on tomorrow at 5.30 pm if we are lucky Thankfully we have a generator setup and so do many of my customers. Ive already had 2 messages this afternoon thanking us for our generator installations. If you are sick of spending hours or sometimes days without power then give us a call and we can hook you up.

24.01.2022 Tried to post this and tag people but couldnt ??? No idea why. So now just sending via messenger.

23.01.2022 Another underground. In Glenburn this time. For a new shed and generator setup

22.01.2022 A small B&B in Gruyere. Updating the heating and cooling to keep the customers comfortable

22.01.2022 https://www.gofundme.com/f/abbeys-huge-vet-bill Worth a read. If everyone donated $5 each. It would make the world of difference. Spare a lot of pain and anguish for the owner.

22.01.2022 Had the pleasure of working at this incredible house today. Was built by one of the members of the Little River band. We ran a small sub board in for future Airconditioning. Cable and Isolator In preparation for the same Airconditioning.

22.01.2022 Well someone now has probably the nicest tiny house/shed I’ve come across in a long time. Power. Lights. A loft. And a door from an old piggery. Hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed wiring it for you. And as a bonus I got to play in the snake enclosure.

21.01.2022 Installed some super slim LED panels at a primary school. SavIng on running costs. Give off a greater amount of light And look good too. My son Arrion modeling, proving that some electricians do own a broom, and know how to use one too.

21.01.2022 Hi beautiful people I hope everybody is keeping theirs chins up during the latest lockdown. Being an essential service we at Castella electrical are still taking calls and working, within the restrictive guidelines. We also take great care with our personal protection for your peace of mind and confidence. Hands are washed and sanitised at our onboard wash station. We carry ample masks and even eye protection and disposable suits and gloves if requested.... We also carry antibacterial wipes to clean surfaces after works are complete. All the best for these trying times. Tim, Chris and Family See more

20.01.2022 Now here is some old school wiring. We came to install some ceiling fans and found old cotton covered cable In timber channel and no earth at the lighting points. Ended up re wiring the front half of the house. This cabling can be dangerous as it corrodes

19.01.2022 Amazing the new products they come out with now. Showing my amusement at the new remote control heat/light/fan tastic. Not sure if you could use it in the shower, but possibly the bath ?

19.01.2022 Finished fitting off this extension on a rammed earth house. We got it powered up just in time for dark. Good photo opportunity

19.01.2022 I’m holding out on everyone until this job is complete. It’s not often I have to climb a pole. This type of pole and it’s earthing system is an unusual sight too see in the suburbs. But fairly common in the country. Especially when you get long rural runs.

19.01.2022 Getting close to air con season. Roughed all the pipe work in a few weeks ago (forgot to take pictures) Fit off and test gas today. Another sparky is doing the electrical work. Happy with the result. ... All ugly stuff hidden. And came up very tidy. See more

18.01.2022 Job done over a few weeks. Finished with the switchboard upgrade and new earth and earth stake. New oven. New Airconditioning. Down lights in the kitchen and bathroom. ... New timber fans on remote to suit the timber rafters. Move the power point away from the larger stove. And range hood to be installed. Finally, sensor LEDs and 30w LED flood light for lighting the driveway at night. All our work comes with a safety certificate and in this case inspection also due to the switchboard upgrade. See more

18.01.2022 Tony from Babbajin Wildlife Park lost power too his water pump. A quick visit Saturday afternoon sorted it out and got his water running again. Which he very much needed. His animals in care would have gotten very thirsty even with all this rain. A dry water bowl means a quick demise for our recovering native wildlife. Thanks for the playtime the little joey (baby wombat). Very sweet. I honestly couldn’t charge for this one. I think most would agree with me on that one ?

17.01.2022 Just for a change. We purchased and installed a dishwasher for a customer. Her old one let all the smoke out. We repositioned the power point as it was behind the dishwasher itself and completely inaccessible. The customer has 3 children with learning difficulties and was extremely grateful we could do a last minute call out on a Saturday afternoon.

17.01.2022 We pulled 2 x 12 + hour days getting this job done in Alexandra. 2 switchboard upgrades. A 32 amp generator set up Almost 30 downlights. 5 ceiling fans. ... Power points. Weather proof power points. Range hood And more. Excuse the lack of photos. We didnt really feel like taking any by day 2. Just wanted to go home and have a shower See more

16.01.2022 An interesting place for a bath full of water. Im guessing not illegal ? But makes accessing the switchboard/meter panel difficult.

16.01.2022 Fitted off a studio and small home distillery. Came up nicely. Extremely well insulated

15.01.2022 I love a customer with a sense of humour

15.01.2022 We had some interesting company yesterday

15.01.2022 Had a call out Saturday afternoon. These terrible winds dropped a tree at a customers house. Ripping their incoming power line down. Smashing the overhead fuse and pulling the hook off the fascia. Lucky I carry spares in the van. ... We had them up and running again before dark. See more

15.01.2022 This kind of visitor makes my day so much more enjoyable.

15.01.2022 Perks of the job. Got to try a customers home made prosciutto today. He tells me it wasn’t as good as last years. Damn fine If you ask me.

12.01.2022 We always test before touching cables. In this instance. The isolator had melted and would not switch off. It’s these safety precautions that can save a life.

12.01.2022 Unfortunately every now and again you come across electrical work that is far from safe and wildly out side of the wiring and installation rules and standards. We came to this house to quote another generator set up and had to inform them that a safety switch and light switch mounted on the meter panel is classed as a defect. And before any work can resume the issue must be rectified. Lesson for today. Beware of cowboys and always get a certificate of electrical safety from your licensed electrician.

11.01.2022 Finally put a 150watt LED high bay over my work bench. I’ve installed countless for customers, in sheds, machine shops etc. I’ve recommended them time and time again. Even to the point that I’ve sold them stock that has been put aside, sitting, boxed, waiting to be put up in my own shed. Now I can finally see what I’m working on. ... So damn good. Highly highly recommended to anyone living in the dark, struggling to see in their own sheds, carports, men and women caves alike See more

11.01.2022 Unfortunately some tradies dont double check that their work is screwed up correctly. We found this busbar sitting on top of the screw in the breaker instead of under it. An easy mistake to make but can be a dangerous one. Pays to check and double check. Test and double test

10.01.2022 37 degrees In Melbourne and we are digging trenches. 240 volts for a new remote gate. 150 meter 6mm run for voltage drop from the main board to the gate on a 20amp safety switch.

09.01.2022 Our friend for the afternoon.

09.01.2022 The friends you make out on a job.

08.01.2022 Before and after. Customer phoned having issues with a power circuit. Discovered a plug in breaker incorrectly fitted and running hot. Lucky to have not caught fire. We upgraded to a switchboard with safety switches and new main switches. And added a generator inlet and change over switch. A safety certificate and 3rd party inspection all inclusive in the price. One very happy customer

07.01.2022 Out with the old. In with the new. Another late Friday. A new system in Limestone. The old one had been limping for the last 2 years. So time for an upgrade. We repositioned the compressor for better access. And greater air circulation. ... Everything neat and tidy. And most of all. WATCH OUT FOR THE SNAKES. See more

07.01.2022 An update on a previous post. Returned to do some more work for our good customer and view the generator set up in action. They have purchased a nice 8kva Honda generator and a new 32 amp lead, plugged into their newly installed 32 amp inlet and controlled via the generator change over and main overload switch. Works like a charm, running all of their power needs during a Black out. Unfortunately my inspector wanted a different description on the overload switch (seen in black pen and blue tape). We will remove this and label it correctly with the label maker keeping it consistent with the other labelling.

07.01.2022 Make sure that your tradesman is qualified and you get a safety certificate or you may end up with work of this quality. No silicone. And end open to the elements on a supposedly weather proof box can lead to disaster.

07.01.2022 Its not all glamour !!! And sometimes we are plumbers too Found a leaking pipe at a customers house whilst hand digging the last of a trench

07.01.2022 Havent posted in a while. Thought Id better update everyone. We are still here. We are still working. Very quiet for a while, understandably. I honestly hope all my friends and customers are coping ok during these unusual events. Australia seems to be doing ok. Fingers crossed . ... Attended a call out Saturday afternoon. A girl, 4 children and grandmother lost power over night. Upon inspection, fuse board was alight. Fire was extinguished luckily. Power company removed mains fuse. I had to dismantle the old board piece by piece. It was melted and welded to everything. And stunk. Even melted the meter. I discovered no overload switch on the mains. So more and more current being used without amy limitations. The old system literally melted to itself. The result is a much safer outcome. Get those old fuse boards upgraded my friends. This could be you. Oh. And they had a cute dog. See more

06.01.2022 When you simply cannot charge an older couple caught up in this crazy lockdown, yet they insist that you accept some form of payment. The lady was so upset she couldnt even offer us a cup of tea.

05.01.2022 Big day today. 7.1kw air conditioning unit installed. Ducting to be painted same colour as the house. And compressor hidden under the deck And a 32amp generator change over switch. All installed at the same house. ... Safety certificate and inspection included. One happy family. See more

05.01.2022 Be aware. If you have an older house built in the 70s early 80s you may have some of this cable running your electrical circuits. It is dangerous and crumbles over time. Especially in areas that get heat, like the roof. This is what we found yesterday in a customers ceiling. ... It is black or dark grey in colour We spent a day and a half removing and replacing all the suspect cabling. They are lucky to have not had a disaster. If you are concerned about your wiring call us to check it over for your peace of mind. See more

05.01.2022 The strange things you find. Had a call out from a young mum this afternoon. Hot water was tripping the circuit. Discovered a large slug across the active/neutral terminals. I was curious to see what effects 240v has on a slug. So overrode the timer. Bad move. It crackled and popped. Then slimed and smoked. ... And it stunk like you wouldn’t believe. Lesson learned. Do not fry slugs with 240v So. New terminal installed. Cables wiped down of goop System livened up. And now works fine. Happy customers. Happy baby. See more

05.01.2022 Love doing sheds. We installed 2 highbays at the highest point of the roof. And 4 x 4 foot LED battens. Internal. On 3 separate switches. Double LED flood light. Power points. Ran a sub mains too the shed. Sub board. 15 amp power for the caravan. Weather proof power for the pump. Some work in the house and installed a generator change over switch also. Love seeing these in the dark. It’s not Often we get too see the final result.

04.01.2022 Looks strange now. But this customer is getting automated blinds installed and we got in first to run the power and cabling. Will all be covered by the blinds and easier to install power before the blinds are fitted.

04.01.2022 When the previous electrician doesnt tighten the terminals correctly.

03.01.2022 Anyone who knows Healesville will know the rivalry between its 2 pizza shops. The one on the left was lit up like the MCG. Dave on the right needed to lift his game. We came to the rescue. Keeping within the bounds of his shop and not intruding upon the neighbours. ... I think it came up extremely well. 4 x 50 watt LED floods. 2 top, 2 bottom. And upgraded the fluorescent tubes to LED too. See more

02.01.2022 What an incredible day. After all this rain the sun finally broke through. Perfect day for an underground in Glenburn. Check out that view. Wow

01.01.2022 Havent installed one of these in a while. A very nicely designed and functional recessed floor mounted power outlet. It ties in beautifully with the customers kitchen appliances (stainless and black) and drops down into the floor when not in use. All tucked neatly under the butchers block island bench.

01.01.2022 Excellent result today. Customer sent me some photos of the upgraded LED lighting we installed. Making a huge difference, a lot brighter and more efficient. Nice to be able to see them at night for a change. 33 down lights. ... 2 pendants 5 internal spot lights. 4 double external spot lights. See more

01.01.2022 Another change over unit in Yea. Old one was woefully undersized and just couldn’t keep up. This wall mounted unit will have them cool as a cucumber. (Why are cucumbers so cool ??)
