21.01.2022 Tell ‘em to get stuffed. (Daryl Kerrigan, The Castle 1997) The Reserve Bank has decided to keep interest rates on hold for the seventh consecutive month today (4th April 17). Despite this, most lenders have recently announced ‘out-of-cycle’ interest rate increases. ... This time around the big banks have specifically targeted Investment Home Loans and Interest Only Home Loans with some loans increasing by as much as 0.36%. The lenders have all cited the usual rhetoric of increased cost of funds and additional regulatory requirements but at the end of the day why should existing Home Loan customers be expected to pay for the increased operating costs of the banks and lenders? If the interest rate on your Home Loan has been increased then you should tell your bank to go and get stuffed. There are plenty of alternative banks and lenders out there with interest rates that are much better than those offered by the big banks. The cost of refinancing your Home Loan can be as little as $300 and you do not have to change all your day-to-day banking accounts and credit cards as part of the refinancing process. As a mortgage broker I do not charge my customers a fee for my services, instead I am paid a commission from the lenders.
