25.01.2022 Castlemaine couple Jemima Lucretia and Roger Cooper celebrated their 70th Platinum Wedding Anniversary last Saturday, November 14. With the easing of restrictions the couple were able to enjoy a small celebration with family and friends at the Lake House at Daylesford last Saturday, but were saddened that their daughter Linda and her husband Malcolm from Adelaide were unable to attend due to covid restrictions. Despite the distance, Linda put in a wonderful amount of work to make their day special organising letters of congratulations from the Queen, Governor General, Prime Minister and Bendigo West MP Maree Edwards.

24.01.2022 The convoy from Campbells Creek is about to begin! In a tribute to the trucking industry of Australia and the people who have kept the wheels turning during an extraordinary year, the Castlemaine Rotary Club is conducting a 'reverse' truck convoy from Campbells Creek today from 9am. Among those set to feature will be local trucks and a 'Richmond FC themed truck'. A series of online speakers is also planned from 1pm through to 3.30pm. Zoom links can be found on the Truck Show'...s website: http://castlemainetruckshow.com The convoy and many of the events will also be live-streamed on the Castlemaine Rotary Truck Show Facebook page. As this is normally the Rotary Club's major fundraising event for the year, an online donation platform has also been set up - https://www.trybooking.com/au/donate/castlemainerotary - so that the community can still contribute to the projects that Rotary supports each year. It is important to note that this year the convoy will run in reverse and over a longer distance so spectators can spread out and be safely distanced. From 9am onwards the convoy will commence at Campbells Creek and spectators should look out for the trucks along the Campbells Creek Main Road, into Johnstone Street, and finally heading north up Barker Street Castlemaine. 09.01.2022 Today Facebook has banned news outlets in Australia. Facebook is abusing its global monopolistic powers in an attempt to bully Australian news outlets, and we support the ACCC and the Commonwealth Government's efforts to rein it in. The Castlemaine Mail is proudly committed to printing local news and being an i...ndependent voice for the local community. We're happy for Facebook to be a platform for crazy cat videos, photos of food and fake unregulated news.
