25.01.2022 les dauphins qui murmuraient à l'oreille des chevaux

24.01.2022 SOLD - Golden Trigger by Rogano from Bellydance. TB Gelding, 5yo, 16hh approx. chestnut . Just retired. Good feet. Recently trimmed. Loves being in a stable a...nd fussed over. Great for farrier, worming, catch, rugging, to float etc. Very gentle with my kids. However being off the track he is not suited to a beginner. He can be cheeky but he’s not dirty. Good stride on him. He does stand a little Charlie Chaplin like in front but this doesn’t affect him. He was sound for the preparation he just had. Heart not in racing anymore. Owner wants a good home for him. Located Lake Clifton $150 0407 746 088

23.01.2022 Something to keep in mind when breaking in and working with youngsters.

23.01.2022 Well the weather wasn't so lovely today. Cloudy, cold and windy, always a recipe for fired up horses but I was pleasantly surprised. Today was the first time I lunged Harry. I've never actually come across a standy who knows how to lunge but he did it "like a boss" even out in the open in both directions. Either he's done this before or he's a super quick learner! Every time I do anything with this boy he impresses me. Secrets was equally great today. She's had a lengthy holiday and I expected her to be a bit above herself but she was an angel, despite her stable mates cutting sick in the paddock.

22.01.2022 Prince Matao | Matao being a Municipality in Brazil, so shall we call him a Brazilian Prince? Prince Matao was prepped to be a race horse, however he never mad...e it to see the race track. After enjoying five years in a paddock, he started what would be a wonderful partnership with Hannah Griffiths. Macka as he is known around the stables has loved a wide variety of disciplines as a part of his second career. He and Hannah have show jumped up to 90cm, competed in novice level dressage, evented to C grade, attended breed shows and hack days. Not only has Macka enjoyed the competition stage, he is often out on bush rides or down at the beach. In recent times Macka is now teaching kids how to ride, as he has the perfect nature for this.

22.01.2022 Wishing a very happy birthday to all the beautiful horses and ponies out there!!!

20.01.2022 15 MARKETING TRICKS OF THE EQUINE SUPPLEMENT TRADE DON'T BE FOOLED - Here are the things to watch out for! These are the tricks companies use to get you to buy ...their products. 1) Making outrageous claims and publishing misleading information about what different ingredients can achieve! e.g. Equifeast and chelated calcium. 2) Using cheap and less effective alternatives e.g. plant omega 3 instead of marine omega 3 in joint supplements e.g. Feedmark Best Flex HA. 3) Marketing on % instead of actual grams. Would you rather have 100% of a small pizza or 50% of a large pizza? 4) Displaying amounts as smaller units instead of appropriate units to make it look great e.g. 10,000ug instead of 10mg. Or 5 billion CFU per kg which is actually a small amount in a daily dose. 5) Not giving a full and clear indication of what a daily dose supplies for each active ingredient. Sadly this isn’t required by law. There can only be one reason a company doesn't want you to know what the levels are - because they are low! 6) Including an ingredient that customers look for so that it’s on the label but at such a tiny amount it cannot have any benefit e.g. 23mg of chondroitin sulphate in NAF Superflex! And that’s in the loading dose!!! 7) Proudly stating We don’t use any fillers, carriers or bulking agents. Technically these are usually referred to as excipients but are often essentially for safety, shelf-life (i.e. so that when you buy the product the levels are as stated on the label), the convenience of dosing, balancing (e.g. added Ca to balance a poor Ca:P ratio) etc 8) Misrepresenting scientific knowledge or published papers e.g. Topspec on tryptophan and calming. 9) Before and after photos usually photoshopped or taken from a different angle. Sometimes not even the same horse. A good example was a recent post by Hi-form. 10) Companies that extensively use Please PM me on their Facebook posts. This is mostly because they are probably going to make claims about their product which they daren’t do in public because they know they will be called out or reported to VMD or ASA. 11) Testimonials A lot of these posts are written by the companies themselves and the owner gets free products for allowing it! Have a look. They are often all written in the same style. 12) Recommendations on Facebook in posts. Many companies have people who are paid to do this or seed posts (e.g. What calmer do you all recommend or Looking for advice on joint supplements) and customers can get money off or points for making recommendations. 13) Bespoke seriously? There is no way anyone can make up something effective with a tiny amount of knowledge about your horse or pony. It sounds great. It's very appealing. It’s a rip-off. 14) Putting articles in magazines which look like independently written articles but which are actually advertorials and written by a company and for which they have paid to have it in the magazine! This is an ASA infringement. 15) Not putting in the amount of active ingredients claimed on the label. A published study found that most companies did not put in the amount of active ingredients they claimed were in their joint supplements and some had NONE!

19.01.2022 ’ ! Now that I’ve been back treating horses again for the last 2 weeks, it’s clear that some owners need ... that their horse’s fitness levels might have taken a hit during lockdown If you’re wondering why your legs are aching...give a thought to your horse’s muscles as well If you decided to temporarily hang your boots up during lockdown, or limited riding to just hacking, or simply stopped jumping. I can’t enough the importance of bringing your horse back into work . Not only will your horse have lost cardiovascular fitness but musculoskeletal condition as well for the discipline. This essentially means your horse will not be able to pick up where you left off, without exposing your horse to risk of injury, from of their muscles/tendons/ligaments. These structures need over time Please bear this in mind especially when you’re booking XC courses / showjumping arena’s etc. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement and forget about the needs of our horse’s Please remember that horse’s are not , and if they are pushed beyond their capabilities they can both and #equineosteopathy #equinelife #equestrianosteopathy #equestrianlife #equineperformancetherapy #equinesportsperformance #equineperfromance #equinetherapy #horseriding #showjumping #eventing #dressage #equestrian

18.01.2022 So Harry had an outing today. I floated him to Merredin and went trail riding with friends Sarah and Amanda. Trail riding gives your horse great exposure to things he won't see in the arena. Harry had to walk through water, cross over the train tracks and face motorbikes, which was foreign to him but with a couple of mates there to give him confidence he took it all in his stride. In another 3 weeks I'll take him camping. He also had a visit from his previous owner/trainer George Cooper while we were in Merredin which was great. Harry has come from a lovely home which is probably why he's such a lovely horse.

18.01.2022 Well it has been a while since I've taken any re-educators / rehomers due to my new work roster and I have a few waiting to come in so I'm delighted to start with first cab off the ranks "Keeper of Keys" affectionately known as "Harry." Harry's a super sweet gentle giant, and I mean GIANT!! Haven't measured him yet but I think he could be pushing 17hh maybe?? I've just picked him up and he's settling in nicely so watch this space, I will post more on this gorgeous boy soon.

18.01.2022 Highly recommend this. I did a barefoot hoof trimming course with these guys and it was one of the best courses I've ever done. Lovely people, great course.

18.01.2022 Introducing the Off the Track WA Estate, our multi-purpose racehorse welfare facility, providing retirement services and emergency care for WA racehorses.

17.01.2022 With all the different things I've been doing with Harry, it suddenly occurred to me that I've only ridden Secrets in the arena and on the small jog track. So today we geared up and tested her with some stock work and went for a beautiful cross country run out in the big paddock. She was faultless. I'm beginning to think there must be something in the water up here. Since moving the horses to the new farm they've all been on their absolute best behaviour!

15.01.2022 I am always blown away by the transformation of the horses that I come in contact with throughout their education and never more so than with the dear ‘Maiko’. ...This wonderful video captured and produced by her proud owner Nathalie Martinsson, brings a smile to my face and a warmth to my heart and continues to reinforce my ‘Horseman’s Promise’. 10.01.2022 Hey Jude, don’t be afraid Six months ago I adopted an untouched, unnamed mustang from the BLM. It was a long journey, full of ups and downs, but I am so proud... of the horse Jude is today. He is a true testament of what the American mustang has to give once you win them over. I am so grateful for the lessons he has taught me and even more grateful that he has found a forever home with an awesome family: Jeff Hunsucker and LeAnn Hunsucker Thank you to the BLM Wild Horse & Burro Program and Mustang Heritage Foundation for making the Extreme Mustang Race possible and a huge thank you to all my sponsors for your support along this journey: Green Horse Organics, Reins for Rescues, Buckin' Mustang Co. 10.01.2022 The media and animal activists have you believe that only racehorses end up here. None of these beautiful horses get a mention. The media doesn't fight for these lives because they're not in the public eye. It's the saddest situation.

09.01.2022 This woman is amazing. I have a mountain of respect for her, for what she does for horses and the way she teaches her craft. Any horse that gets to spend time here will be so blissfully happy. I congratulate Vicki, Michael and everyone involved in this venture.. clearly very hard workers and very high achievers. Well done!!

08.01.2022 It is with the deepest sadness that we advise that one of the all-time greats of Australian racing, Might And Power, has passed away at the age of 26. Late yest...erday afternoon he was diagnosed with colic and rushed to Werribee Equine Centre for emergency surgery, but was unable to be saved. CEO & Veterinary Director, Dr Andrew Clarke, said he and the team were completely heartbroken to lose this very special once-in-a-lifetime horse. I am incredibly sad to have to let you know that Might and Power was euthanised in the early hours of this morning, Dr Clarke said. Our hearts are with owner Nick Moraitis and Bob’s many fans, and also to our wonderful staff who cared for him every day. Living Legends will never be the same without our treasured Might And Power. A special thank you to Werribee Equine Centre for their efforts to save his life, he said. Might And Power retired in 1999 as a rare winner of the Melbourne Cup, Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate treble, and was one of the longest standing and most popular residents at Living Legends. He will be forever missed.

06.01.2022 Thought it was a nice day to take big Harry "Keeper of Keys" for a swim in the lake. Unfortunately he sunk so deep into the mud I almost thought we needed a crane to get him out. Luckily this super cool dude wasn't fazed at all. Shared learnings...be very careful at lakes. I walked in first and thought it was fine but it's a whole other story under half a tonne of horse.

06.01.2022 Sudden onset blindness and dilated pupils. This is ivermectin toxicity due to eating a little bit of horse wormer that the horse spat out. She is staying overnight for IV fluids and a detox. #dogseateverything

06.01.2022 Great horses take time. Enjoy the ride.... #NBHA

05.01.2022 Well I just measured Harry (unofficially with a tape measure and spirit level) at 174cm so just shy of 17.2hh. Today was only his third ride and he has to be the quietest horse I've ever ridden. We rode all over the property, through bush, over rocks and across big open spaces and then we moved a mob of sheep out to the back paddock with Marley helping from a safe distance.(chicken) Harry never paces unless you ask him to canter. He easily breaks into a beautiful comfy canter but at this early stage he can only hold it for a few strides and then paces. This will change with more schooling. I thought his trot would be difficult to ride given the gigantic size of him but it is surprisingly very easy and comfortable. He doesn't even mind Marley hanging around! It's an absolute pleasure to have Harry around, he's so easy.

04.01.2022 Abbey tried her hand at moving a mob of sheep and boy did she impress. We got caught in a hail and thunderstorm and we were absolutely drenched. Despite the conditions she was 100% focussed on the sheep and thrived on having a job to do. Sadly the day after this she picked a fight with a fence and injured her hind leg so she's gone home to heal. Needless to say she is ready for her owner to take the reins. Special thanks to Craig Anderson for helping to wrap her leg and also to Jonnine for the opportunity to work with Abbey.

04.01.2022 The journey with BJs Dream from 2014 Who knew this spaghetti legged, unbalanced and spooky little Standardbred pacer would go on to becoming a Grade B jumper, ...and an amazing all rounder that can hold her own! I'm not going to lie, when we first started BS it was pretty intimidating walking into that warm up arena full of amazing horses and riders that knew exactly what they were doing, because me and Ellie most certainly didn't. The stares we got when we were pacing and trantering around the ring full speed and taking strides out (we still had little control back then) We both started at the bottom together, and progressed together..she has taught me and given me so much that I will always be thankful to her. It may have took that little bit longer, and been that little bit more difficult due to having an extra gait and the lack of canter..but it just made everything that came afterwards that little bit more rewarding. I think anyone that meets this girl falls in love with her. She is such a trier and absolutely loves her job..to the point that its sometimes still a little hard for her to control her spaghetti legs with all the excitement! Although the pacing can actually come in extremely handy to help us out of sticky situations as shes not always the easiest to see a stride from, and she can put her legs in all sorts of positions you wouldn't think possible just to make sure she doesn't knock a pole. And her pretty little face with her big kind eyes..she just melts hearts! She was given an amazing compliment the other week on a Standardbred page..that they think she is the most talented non-racing American Standardbred in the country. It made me so proud of how far we have come and all the achievements she's had, as small as they may be to others. So i decided to look back through some old clips and make a video to show our progress since there are still no shows for us to go to on my day off! I definitely struck gold with this little horse and I cant wait until we can get back out doing what she loves most See more
