23.01.2022 Visit from Mr Andrew Gee On Friday the 24th July Andrew Gee visited Catherine McAuley for the official handing over of the bus shelter awning which the school last year was able to obtain a Federal Grant for. While at the school Mr Gee also gave up his time to speak to Year 6 students about parliament and the things that happen in Canberra. He spoke about the House of Representatives and the Senate. (I think he mentioned the House of Representatives was his favourite ho...use), how Bills are passed, why everyone should in Australia have a voice and why parliament is valuable. The talk was held on the Green area so that social distancing protocols could be upheld. Year 6 and the school community of Catherine McAuley would like to thank Mr Gee for not only the Grant but more importantly giving up his time to speak to the students about our Parliamentary System. Mr Hudson

21.01.2022 I dont normally make puns about fractions but Ill make ONE if I half TWO... Over the last few weeks 3C has been investigating fractions. In groups, we put together a fraction wall puzzle to help us to understand the size of each proportion. We also independently sorted fraction cookies into the correct cookie jars to help us to understand equivalent factions. Finally, as a class we made a domino chain where we had to match fractions with their decimal equivalents! Great work 3C! Miss Campbell Year 3

17.01.2022 Last Friday, Year 5 were very lucky to enjoy a day at The Bathurst Goldfields. It was a fun, educational and very warm day where we all took part in activities based on life in the 1850’s. Life was definitely much tougher back then. Many of us were lucky to find gold but sadly not enough to retire. Congratulations to all students on being so engaged and well mannered on the day. 15.01.2022 Year 4 - An Egg-citing Egg-speriment! This terms Science and Technology unit has been about different materials and their various properties. For egg-ample, we learnt that some materials, such a cotton and plastic have a high tensile strength and others, like tissue paper and newspaper, do not. Other materials help protect fragile items due to their properties which alleviate impact. The students used ALL of their knowledge about materials and designed and created a packag...e that would protect a raw egg when dropped from a height. The students were egg-sperts!!! Not a single egg died from the impact of their fall! Success! Mrs Wright

12.01.2022 Project 360 Degrees and Tour Creator These photos might look a little strange to you. That is because they are taken with a special camera (called a Theta V) that captures an image from all 360 degree angles. This image can then be moved around to look at different aspects of a photo in detail. (A bit like Google Maps images.) 4G have been learning how to use the camera and how to put together a tour for the viewer. We have been researching the different objects in our chu...rch. With Tour Creator we can add Information icons to these objects so the viewers can click an Information button and learn more about the objects. A huge thank you to Vickie Vance from the Catholic Education Office and Mrs Church for this special opportunity. We will be able to share our complete 360 Degree Project with our school community shortly. Mrs Kate Wright
