25.01.2022 How much are you paying? At CATO location services we’ve charged clients the same rates for 2 years but still get request to match rates which are clearly below the award! Fairwork has made it very simple to find out what an employee should be getting paid - http://www.fairwork.gov.au/awards-and-agree//find-my-award... To work out what a company should be charging you take this rate found in the award finder and add business expenses such as: + superannuation + public liability insurance (not cheap for security) + professional indemnity insurance + cyber insurance + works compensation Insruance + legal consulting + HR fees & training + vehicle insurance + building insurance + payroll tax + uniform allowances + leave entitlements + PPE (this is very costly now due to COVID) + licensing cost (security master license) + management fees + office & property expenses A company such as CATO can only charge a small amount on top to cover the above due to many competitors paying outside what is right to pay!!

06.01.2022 Kieran Patrick Cato: Great article!! I've across a number of industries in Australia and the security industry is one of the most corrupt!... Im constantly up against contractors who offer cheaper rates and frequently see new companies start up for a year only to fold and start up again under a different business name. It means we loose major contracts to businesses whose rates are well below the award - some as low as $31/hr. The businesses who employ these contractors need to understand what this actually means and where the money is going. Most of the time its a money a laundering exercise and producers never see the owner of these companies because if they did, they would realise how corrupt the organisation is. This quote is on the money (or off): Price is the problem. Legitimate companies say it costs $41 per hour to provide a properly trained, equipped guard while paying taxes, Workcover, penalty rates and leave components. The minimum to make a profit is $46 to $48. Lets hope scam companies are exposed. If being offered under $41 per hour you need to start asking questions. My guards make close to $60 on a Sunday. Why? Because its the award!
