21.01.2022 Murray Bridge trainer Grant Young was the leading trainer with the Gawler & Barossa Jockey Club for season 2019-2020, a feat he achieved in the previous season as well. On Sunday he came away with a double with Magus Man and Exalted Lauretta winning, both courtesy of excellent rides by Caitlin Jones.

20.01.2022 Morphettville trainer Ryan Balfour had a Gawler double on Sunday. Cobbers Mate was perfectly rated by Dom Tourneur to lead throughout while Allayez came with a perfectly timed run under apprentice Jacob Opperman.

15.01.2022 Senior racing identity David Tootell admitted it was a very special win when Detentore won at Gawler today. The gelding was first winner as a trainer as only his 8th starter, but he also rode him to victory. Wife Sara Holland is also a partner in the ownership group. Tootell wore the colours of the former champion Durbridge with which he was successfully associated when trained in Adelaide by Brian Murphy. Another part-owner in Detentore is Maurice Murphy, keeping the Durbridge connection.

11.01.2022 All was forgiven by trainer Barry Brook when Deejay Bobo won at Gawler on Sunday. Pre-race, the four-year-old took a nip out of Brook's arm. But in the race, Deejay Bobo, ridden by Justin Potter proved too good for his rivals landing a few nice bets at long odds.

Deadheated on Ken's Thunder for trainer Stuart Padman with Mulga Lil, ridden by Caitlin Jones and trained by Jacob's father Jamie. Then scored easily on Hateech for trainers Richard and Chantelle Jolly, giving them a double. Took out the final event on Magic Phantom for trainer Jon O'Connor.

10.01.2022 One of the most impressive Gawler winners was the Peter Moody-trained Carbone which ran home powerfully to win carrying 60kg with Ryan Hurdle in the saddle. It was the third win in a row at Gawler for the five-year-old.

Won easily on Extra Mile for Morphettville trainers Richard & Chantelle Jolly, then deadheated on Mulga Lil for Mount Gambier mentor Jamie Opperman. The other deadheater was the big grey Ken's Thunder, trained by Stuart Padman and ridden by Jacob Opperman.

08.01.2022 The most emotional Gawler win was the all the way victory by Rohlon Drunk for trainer Jamie Opperman and his son Jacob who rode the four-year-old. It was the first combined victory for father and son.
