24.01.2022 ‘You do you.’ Is there a better motto for life and how we love others? ‘You do you’ sounds good. It encourages people to be authentic, to be true to who they ar...e. Surely, a world full of conflict and division would benefit from more people adopting ‘you do you’ as a guiding principle in their dealings with others? But what would life look like if everyone did adopt such a ‘you do you’ attitude? What if ‘you do you’ is not as loving as we first think and actually leads to more conflict and division? Is there a better way to live and to love? Join our final series at Bible Shots for 2020 as Stephen McAlpine argues that ‘you do you’ is not a loving attitude when it comes to issues like freedom, sex, pleasure and spirituality. Steve will also help us consider that a better way to live and to love is found in the pages of the Bible and the message of Jesus.

20.01.2022 The Black Lives Matter movement has laid bare some of the anger, frustration and injustice that minority groups have been feeling for a long time. For some Christianity is seen as one of the barriers to genuine racial reconciliation and progress. For others, Christianity is the problem itself. This week at Bible Shots Aaron Johnstone will dive into some of the recent history regarding Christianity and racism. But more importantly we'll look at whether the Bible itself has created this climate, or whether it in fact can be the solution. Not only does the Bible offer a great framework for understanding human nature and racism, but in Jesus himself he offers a global vision of hope, peace, forgiveness and reconciliation available to all.

04.01.2022 There are few things as important as hope. In fact, hope is essential for persevering through the bleak times of life. But when the future is uncertain, can you really have hope? We could be nearing the end of our extended season of increased uncertainty. News reports of vaccine trials allow us to start looking to the future with a sense of optimism. But even if the problem of corona virus is solved, the future remains uncertain. What can you hope in? This week at Bible Shots... we return to the book of Ruth. The Book of Ruth narrates what is arguably the sweetest story in the Bible. It makes for a nice change of pace in the midst of our uncertain times. Despite its sweetness, Ruth doesn’t hide from the reality that life is anything but straightforward. Life can be full of uncertainty, disappointment and grief. But as we follow the story of a family facing an uncertain future we will see the alternative path they offer us as we consider how to live through uncertain times. Join us online at Bible Shots as Lachlan Orr takes us through the book of Ruth and helps us to consider what lessons we can learn as we face an uncertain future.
