11.01.2022 On behalf of the Young Harness Racing Club here is a short tribute to our mate, a great young man Nic Dewar. Nic was a dedicated, passionate and an enthusiastic... young man for our club and harness racing but with that came many friendships, love and admiration. In such a short time he had such an effect on so many people, young and old. He left you with an impression, a good one. He always had a smile and an hello and would go out of his way to help you. No job was too big or too small. He was one of a kind who carried himself like no other at such a young age. His maturity and knowledge and willingness to learn amazed everyone around him. The last few days we have heard so many stories and I don’t think he would have realised how much he is loved, respected and admired within the local community, the harness racing community and most importantly by his family and friends. Nic’s love for his family and especially his Pop, Pete Schiller who has lost his best mate, will never be forgotten. Our thoughts are will Steve, Wendy, Brad, Amy, Brooke and his extended family and always will be. Nic had a bright future ahead and not just in Harness Racing. He definitely had the harness racing bug from breeding to racing but also had bigger dreams that sadly he wont get to see. Thank you to the strong harness racing community for their compassion, messages, phone calls and support. It is amazing how united our industry can be in times like these. A special mention to John Dumesny, NSW Harness Racing, Chris Alford and the Lennytheshark team for letting Nic be part of the Miracle Mile on Saturday night. Chris went above and beyond on Saturday night and this was greatly appreciated by his family and friends. There a number of others who have helped with a number of things the last few days which again has been much appreciated. To you Nic, keep living the dream cause that’s want you wanted to do. Keep driving winners up there. Rest in paradise See more
