21.01.2022 The Annual 13th Annual PCOA Hybrid Conference & Virtual Exhibition 2020 was a bit different this year, with in-person and virtual components running concurrently in Australia and New Zealand. The hybrid model meant that our team was able to catch up with clients in Sydney, Canberra and online all at once, and talk about Canberra's strong position as a COVID-safe destination for events in 2021 and beyond. The targeted support will drive confidence and create momentum, positioning the industry to rebound as market conditions improve. 03.01.2022 They've arrived! Yesterday we received our first shipment of 800 Smart Badges, with another 500 on the way. These devices, funded by ACT Government, are now available free-of-charge to meeting planners holding a business event in Canberra. The wearable tech features contact tracing, social distancing, and contact-free registration capabilities, and provides an added layer of safety to help delegates feel confident in attending in-person events again. 02.01.2022 Changes to restrictions in the ACT are set to take place tomorrow, with a capacity increase to 500 persons without the requirement of an exemption, and the removal of seated consumption of F&B for outside venues. The 1 per 4 sqm rule still applies to indoor venues, while outdoor venues must adhere to 1 per 2 sqm. 01.01.2022 Last Thursday we undertook a second trial of social distancing tech at the National Convention Centre Canberra, during an industry meeting attended by tourism leaders, including Pip Harrison, Managing Director at Tourism Australia. Since our first trial in July, Harry the hirer have enhanced key features of the technology, including contactless registration, contact tracing capabilities and automated entry and exit columns alerting guests when a room or venue is at capacity. Next up on the development front is geo mapping and movement tracing, all with the goal of ensuring delegate safety and allowing a safe return to in-person meetings.
