25.01.2022 The picturesque township of Surat, on the banks of the Balonne River, is the oldest existing town in the Maranoa. The township of Surat was originally referred... to as Yalculba in very early correspondence, however, suddenly the title changed to Surat. There are lots of interesting places and stories to uncover when you explore our beautiful region #romarevealed #suratqld #balonneriver #outbackqueensland #goodtogo

25.01.2022 SURAT’S COBB & CO COACH HOUSE WALL CONSTRUCTION UPGRADE TO COMMENCE IN JUNE Maranoa Regional Council would like to advise Surat residents that upgrade works on... the western wall of the Cobb & Co Coach House (part of the Cobb & Co Changing Station) will commence in June 2020. These works will allow the damaged section of the wall to be replaced with Colourbond which will match the existing façade. Works will be underway for approximately three weeks (weather permitting). Pedestrian access along Cordelia Street will be restricted while works are underway and pedestrians will be diverted around the construction works. For further information please contact Council’s Facilities Team on 1300 007 662.

23.01.2022 Work on the western wall of The Changing Station has been moving along quite well. Here are some picture updates of how it is looking. Still more to be done yet.

23.01.2022 SURAT COBB AND CO CHANGING STATION FOYER UPGRADE DESIGN - COMMUNITY CONSULTATION Maranoa Regional Council would like to invite the Surat and surrounding communi...ty to provide their feedback on the updated design concepts for the Cobb & Co Changing Station Foyer upgrade. Following initial community consultation in June & September 2020, Gibson Architects have drafted a further two design concepts for residents to consider and provide comment on. The first design has been expanded in response to feedback received in September and the second design is an additional option. Council will host a community consultation session on Wednesday, 11 November 2020 at Cobb & Co Changing Station in Surat starting at 1.30pm. If you can’t make it to the session, you can also submit your preference and comments through Council’s Have Your Say website, via https://haveyoursay.maranoa.qld.gov.au/ or in person at the Surat Library. The feedback period opens on Monday, 2 November 2020 and will close at 5pm on Friday, 13 November 2020. This will be the final opportunity for residents to provide their feedback on the design concepts to allow for the finalisation of the concept and drawings for delivery.
