23.01.2022 A few visitors on the farm this morning. Straw-necked ibis.

23.01.2022 This is something Ive been mulling over sharing because it could be seen as being controversial, but I also wholeheartedly feel like its so vital right now to... just say this because this is a message that has been impossible to make the rest of our nation understand for so long... If youve currently lost your job because of an occurrence out of your control, can you survive a month, two or even six without Government help? Lets say hypothetically you knew an occurrence like this could happen once every 100 years, would you still be financially prepared to survive a year, two or even three years without income and no financial assistance? If what is currently happening went on for eight years and there was limited Government assistance to supplement the income you were not making, could you still afford to put food on the table and not have the banks take everything you own? My guess would be very few people could. But, unfortunately, this was the harsh reality for many of our farmers who have only just come out of drought. The financial challenges many of us are going through now is similar to what many rural communities have faced for many years, but without immediate, adequate and no strings attached Government financial assistance. And if any, all was simply a loan, not a tax-free handout and came with huge time delays and asset assessment. After all this, I hope we never criticise the people who feed us for supposedly being ill-prepared for natural disasters that effected them not for months, but for years. I hope we never dismiss our Primary Producers for needing help when the circumstances they face are completely out of their control, much like we currently face. May we be understanding, reasonable and compassionate and give adequate support to those who feed us when they are doing it tough. And may we all be so grateful for the food on our tables tonight that the people who have kept going despite adversity and struggles for years still get up every single day to ensure each one of us, right now, has enough to eat.

22.01.2022 We had a visitor, of the blue tongue variety, in our garden today. He certainly is a big one.

22.01.2022 A ring around the moon last night. According to folklore, "A ring around the sun or moon means rain or snow is coming soon." ... The ring, or a lunar halo, is caused by the refraction and reflection of light from ice crystals that are suspended in thin, wispy, cirrus or cirrostratus clouds that are at high altitudes.

05.01.2022 A lovely military man selling poppies stopped me today and asked if he could reposition mine - while doing so he told me that women should wear their poppy on t...heir right side; the red represents the blood of all those who gave their lives, the black represents the mourning of those who didn't have their loved ones return home, and the green leaf represents the grass and crops growing and future prosperity after the war destroyed so much. The leaf should be positioned at 11 o'clock to represent the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, the time that World War One formally ended. He was worried that younger generations wouldn't understand this and his generation wouldn't be around for much longer to teach them. (copy and paste to share just like I did). we must remember those from our current wars too! #lestweforget See more

01.01.2022 So planes have stopped, cars have stopped, well the world as a whole has pretty much stopped and the Co2 levels have dramatically dropped! yet the farmers haven...t stopped. Were still getting up at 5am to milk the girls, the lambing sheds are still full on, the cattle are still being fed, yet the CO2 has dropped. So agriculture isnt quite so bad as the media and snowflakes have been making out for it to be..maybe the world isnt going to end because of our livestock. maybe, just maybe, agriculture is actually going to be the thing to save everyones arses when this world has gone tits up...eat local.eat fresh... good luck getting your avocados and coconut milk in the next few weeks...cos dont forget, most imports have stopped #supportagriculture See more
