25.01.2022 November is officially here and so my thoughts are turning towards getting ready for Advent. We traditionally string up 24 cards on the wall and have a creative, giving or baking activity or a special Christmas outing on each card; making decorations, window stars, cards and gifts for others, baking for the neighbours, wrapping some gifts to donate, tripping around to see the Christmas lights. A couple of years ago, I took my boys to see The Nutcracker at QPAC in Brisbane... ...that was pretty special!! Now that they are getting older (10 and almost 14!), I’m finding I need to be more creative to meet them with meaningful Advent ideas. We also have some beautiful beeswax candles from Happy Flame for our table and add something for each of the four lights of advent - mineral, plant, animal and human - as we progress through the weeks. And of course, beautiful stories and books that are saved only for this time of year!! I am excited to share the gorgeous Advent stories and Christmas books that I have in stock over the coming weeks. What’s your tradition for the festive season? Children in early primary benefit greatly from literacy experiences which embrace a range of stories from different cultures. Stories of Ancient peoples, of farming, traditions and fairy tales from all over the globe help to broaden and inspire the young imagination

15.01.2022 I’m very excited that some of my US orders are finally starting to trickle in! Thanks for your patience to those who have ordered the gnome books or Reg Down titles. Some have arrived in Melbourne, hopefully heading to us soon. Others are still coming and I’ll let you know as soon as I have an ETA. The Star Trilogy is a great adventure series written by a retired Waldorf teacher. The first book is suitable for independent readers or as a read aloud from around class 3; the next two are more aimed at middle and upper primary schoolers. These are decent sized books, so a great gift for those kids who devour stories in a few hours and go looking for more!!

15.01.2022 Such a gorgeous book! An old lady wants to bake an apple cake. She has everything she needs except apples. So she sets off to market to buy some apples, taking a basket of plums to trade along the way, just in case... Ideal for 4-6 years

10.01.2022 You can never have too many gnome stories, right?! We also have Tiptoes and her cheeky gnome friends, Pine Cone and Pepper Pot, plus those sweet gnomes of Limindoor Woods on their way! Oh, and just for company is the little knitted gnome that my son made in Class 2!

I stock many of her lovingly made natural toys in store, and she also makes to order. She will be at the Sunspace Mini Market today from 230-430pm, at 50 Nyell Rd Doonan. While I won’t have a stall there today, we will both be at the Pengari Christmas market on 13th November, and hope to see you there!!
