17.01.2022 Tom’s pick’(s) of the week: - Georges Shiraz 2018: Colour: Deep and dark Aroma: Freshly picked and squished blackberry with background... black olive tapenade Palate: All those aromatics spill into the mouth, with a sense of dark chocolate and a mid-palate spike of fresh blackberry. Lip-smacking structure and impressive length make this a very special shiraz crafted to drink now and for cellaring over many years. - Georges Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 Colour: Dark and brooding Aroma: Crushed black and blue berries with dark choc-mint in the background Palate: Serious, dark cabernet fruit flavours, aromatics to the rear, with extraordinary density and concentration, mouth-filling textures and, without impacting palate juiciness, mid-rich, persistent, varietally typical tannins. 15.01.2022 Toms pick of the week: Pirate Life Hazy Pale 5.4 ABV This unfiltered ale pays homage to a PL classic, albeit through a slightly ‘hazy’ lens.... It’s brewed with a selection of premium malts. Wheat and Pale lend a sturdy base, while Munich, Carapils and Caraaroma add body and light toffee hue. It pours with an attractive opacity, thanks to polyphenols accrued during dry hopping. International varieties Kohatu, Wai-iti, Strata and Mosaic supply intense aromas of tropical fruit, with lifted notes of citrus and pine. It’s moreish and malty, with a well-rounded mouthfeel and fine mid-palate bitterness. 13.01.2022 Tom’s pick of the week: Big Shed X Ballistic Beer Co Oaked Guava DIPA (ABV 8.0% IBU 68) Pouring a burnt orange colour, the Oaked Guava IIPA has a certain juicy, tropical fruit sweet stickiness to it. The guava is definitely present but, in combination with the hops and malt, is joined by orange / mandarin citrus, not to mention a healthy dose of vanilla and honey that swings by to say: "Hello!" ... 12.01.2022 The boys at Mason Lloyde Music and of course the one and only Cellarbrations Henley Square are participating in MOVEMBER this year! Well attempting too anyway.. :P A message from MASON LLOYDE MUSIC:... This post is a little different from what I would normally share with you guys. We are 2 days late, but better late than never! Both mo manager Tom and I are participating in MOVEMBER. Mental health and suicide prevention are things we both hold close to our hearts. Tom personally suffers from Anxiety and I have seen first-hand how that affects him. Mo, if there is anything we can do to help spread awareness, then we will do it. Some people may say we are cheating by not starting from scratch with our moes. Both of us have very pathetic and slow facial hair growing skills. If we did it by the book, you would be waiting until Christmas before our first hairs to come through. Personally, I don’t think it matters. I feel that spreading awareness is much more important than whether we have cheated or not. We will still look very ugly, don’t worry! Now for the part, where we ask for your help. 11.01.2022 Tom’s pick of the week: Woodwater Distillery (SA): MY Gin Kaleidoscope 700ml The name and look comes from the vibrant and colourful array of ingredients used.... Fresh fruits with a tropical influence were distilled with our grape and malt spirit to create this light and fruity Gin. Orange, peach, rockmelon, honeydew melon, watermelon and a hint of coconut all thrown in. Again, it’s contemporary with juniper and most savoury botanicals not being dominant in flavour profile, although leaving you with a lovely kick of pepper to finish with. This is dangerously easy to knock back and at 42.5% ABV. Support local!
