21.01.2022 As has been advertised to students on notices and training, there is an upcoming ‘Queensland All Schools’ Track and Field event occurring over two weekends in October. See the link below. To compete at this Event, an athlete must be a member of Queensland Athletics (QA). The base membership rate is $12. Entries are open from the 23th of September and as competitor numbers for events are subject to limitations, and as demand will be high, we would advise you that if you’re ke...en to enter your child, do so as quick as possible once the nomination process opens.. Whilst there are no set qualifying standards, the level will high, similar to finals at Met West. Many Centenary athletes would be suited to this level of competition and we would encourage students to take the opportunity to compete, given the lack of the normal school representative pathway this year. Note that parents/caregivers are in charge of lodging entries directly with QA. https://qldathletics.org.au/index.cfm/competition/details/ School training will continue up until these Championships, once school resumes.

The NYC will be held on the Sunshine Coast in the coming week. Congratulations Kealan, Rico, Jacob, Aaliyah, Isabella, and Teelah!... This is a huge achievement and one that deserves to be recognised. It is through their hard work, persistence and dedication to the game of Touch Football that sees these young students competing at this level. Well done!

10.01.2022 Sport - Year in Review Congratulations to all students who were involved in the multitude of sporting activities on offer through the year. Whether it be the Iso-Fit Program (credit to Mrs Nasalio), lunch time inter-house sports, Gala Days, the major carnivals, representative pathways, All Schools Touch/Athletics/Volleyball/Futsal, STEP, Gym, etc, there was no shortage of opportunities for students to get involved at Centenary. To top it off, Centenary SHS was anointed as th...e West Brisbane District ‘CHAMPION SCHOOL’ on the basis of the results of the competitive Gala Days. Centenary earned 312 points, a massive 104 points ahead of second place. This achievement is credit to the commitment and effort of all students and staff in the sporting domain, and considering the quality of the district (Kenmore SHS, Corinda SHS, Indooroopilly SHS, Yeronga SHS, QASMT), it is an outstanding result. In terms of individual honours, congratulations to all our Sports Award recipients, and especially the major award winners at the recent Awards Night. Junior Sportsperson of the Year - Kya, Senior Sportsperson Olivia, and Olympic Change Makers Aaron and Samuel Berkeley. Well done for all of your efforts. Lastly, special mention to Miss Daniels (Gala Sports Co-ordinator), Mrs Nasalio (Representative Pathways Co-ordinator) and the admin staff who do an immense amount behind the scenes. Thanks to everyone involved in the Sporting Program through the year!

01.01.2022 Over the past few weeks, the Year 10 Community Project Packs for Necessities STEP group, with the help of Miss Brain, has collected boxes of various hygiene items generously donated by many teachers, office staff, students and parents. All items will be given to our selected charity, Brisbane Youth Service, who provide shelter, hygiene products, food items and mental health services to homeless youth aged 12-25 in Brisbane. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who... has donated to this cause as these packs will make a significant difference to these young people. We as 15 and 16-year-olds understand the privilege of having clean clothes, food, and a place to call home which is why we have chosen to support this charity as we cannot imagine being uncertain of where we’d sleep each night. Young people already have so much to worry about let’s take away at least one! See more
