23.01.2022 Sunday June 21st 2020 Hi there and welcome to My Baby Basics, Many of you are eager to get training again as am, I so I just wanted to give you an update on w...here we're at. Public classes: These remain on hold until my venues open back up for hire, I will keep this up to date on my socials as soon as I have information about when they can get going again. Private classes: I am happy to chat about booking a private class on a case by case basis as the go-ahead will depend on location, and the actual space for the class. This is because it will need to be large enough for us to be able to maintain physical distancing and stick to the 4 metre square per person rule. Also at this stage I, unfortunately, will have to limit babies to those who are not yet mobile as any crawling or walking baby will make keeping our distance difficult. Hoping to get back to business in this new normal as soon as possible, Thank you, Sharyn

16.01.2022 Let's talk about Time-Outs... The underlying goal of a timeout is to discourage bad behavior by putting your children in a boring situation they'd prefer to avo...id. For timeouts to be effective, they must be balanced with time in in other words, giving your child the attention he or she craves when behaving well. What does this look like? 'Time IN' is when your little one is having a difficult moment & is encouraged to sit with you and helped to express their feelings and eventually cool down. During the time in, you’re encouraged to empathize with your child’s feelings and often just quiet connection is all that is needed until the storm has passed. It doesn’t mean that you must let your them continue with a behavior that is inappropriate. The time in gives you the opportunity to really connect and then address whatever change needs to be made. Have you tried this strategy? I found myself feeling more connected with my children when I tried this and felt calmer in myself too.
