A large proportion of charcoal toothpastes do not contain fluoride, and according to a British Dental Journal paper from May some may also contain carcinogenic substances. While often advertised as a teeth whitener, charcoal toothpaste and bicarb soda toothpaste works as an abrasive - removing the stains from your teeth, but also potentially damaging the enamel.... 03.01.2022 Even a simple job as taking impressions for a teens mouth guard can turn a little tricky when the patient has a gag reflex and braces. The gag reflex means discomfort for the patient when inserting the mould to take the impression. The braces require to be accommodated accurately when making the mouthguard. Our 3D scanner has come to the rescue with no need for messy and difficult to take impressions. A simple 3D scan of the patients teeth and off we go to make the mouth guard. A large portion of dental caries in children remains untreated with greater than one in four five- to 10-year-olds displaying untreated disease. The main culprit that leads to dental caries has not changed; it is sugar consumption. If you are wondering how much is too much, WHO recommends a maximum of six teaspoons of sugar per day. This is an example of a case requiring extensive ortho intervention.
