25.01.2022 Bees regularly enter my living room through the fireplace and dart around, as if searching for sunscreen. The swam appears disorganised, yet they communicate through dance around the immobile queen. What have I invited into my confined space? @jenvalender @centreforprojectionart #centreforprojectionartresidencyprogram #centreforprojectionart #projectionart #collingwoodyards #creativevictoria #cityofyarra #melbourne #residency #besenfamilyfoundation

08.01.2022 Also during the residency, I was investigating a few different ways of disrupting images using subpixel array patterns.A single pixel on a color subpixelated display is made of several color primaries, typically three colored elementsred, green and blue. These pixel components, sometimes called subpixels, appear as a single color to the human eye because of blurring by the optics and spatial integration by nerve cells in the eye. The components are easily visible, however, ...when viewed with a small magnifying glass. I was experimenting with recreating the subpixel array through code and then rotating and shifting the RGB layers to create moire patterns. Moire are complexinterference patternsthat can be produced when an opaque ruled pattern with transparent gaps is overlaid on another similar pattern. I got some interesting results when I projected the artwork and tried reflecting the projector beam off glass to layer the image over itself. . . . @wesleydowling @centreforprojectionart #residency #centreforprojectionart #centreforprojectionartresidencyprogram #projectionart #opportunity #melbourne #cityofyarra #creativevictoria #besenfamilyfoundation See more

04.01.2022 This is my final takeover post for the week. Thanks for following along. Mosaicis a reactive web-based site-responsive work that was developed during theCentre for Projection ArtResidency Program and exhibited as part of theHolocenter Light Windowsexhibition. The work was initiated by the lockdown restrictions that were taking hold during the residency. I wanted to investigate ways of creating an interactive projection work that would allow viewers to participate with... it remotely and respect social distancing rules. This web-based artwork accumulates the history of the browser window sizes that access the site. The website was projected through the window of Collingwood Yards, and visitors could interact with the work by scanning a QR code that was placed around the site with their mobile device. . . . @wesleydowling @centreforprojectionart #residency #centreforprojectionart #centreforprojectionartresidencyprogram #projectionart #opportunity #melbourne #cityofyarra #creativevictoria #besenfamilyfoundation See more

03.01.2022 Take a trip down memory lane with us and reminisce on our past festivals. RESIST. PERSIST. SHIFT. In 2019 through participatory projections, video games, and virtual reality works, artists pushed the artform of projection into new realms, while questioning constricting structures, pushing back against the status quo, and giving strength to fluid identities.
