23.01.2022 Can't believe early survey results indicate South Aussies still don't want a rec licence. A licence in Victoria has seen nets taken out of ALL bays in the state..., a lot of pro's bought out, cleaning stations built in dozens of regional towns, boat ramp launch fees abolished, restocking in literally dozens of waterways and artificial reefs. And all for less than a carton of beer. Come on, my fellow South Aussies, you only have to have a look eastward to see how beneficial a rec licence can be!

11.01.2022 Fishing SA magazine June/July edition hitting metro tackle stores before the long weekend - grab a copy on your way out of town! #fishingsamagazine #fishingsa #southaustralia #eyrepeninsula #yorkepeninsula #kangarooisland #southeast #fleurieupeninsula #hardcopy #digitaledition

11.01.2022 Well, it’s that time of year again boys and girls. Time to obsess over these giant Goliaths. They are probably my biggest passion in life, tied with brook trout... fishing and writing. For a short window of time, maybe two weeks each fall, these monsters run a small river by my house. They give incredible fights, some of which I’ll be uploading on my YouTube channel. There’s nothing like hooking into a fresh chinook salmon, AKA king salmon. Nothing in fresh water fights harder than these gladiators, and that’s why I respect them so much. I enjoy the meat but it’s the battle that makes me so passionate about catching them. It’s a fight till the death every time I hook one. And I love being all alone, in this beautiful setting, with nothing but me, God, and the fish. When I hook one, we engage in a battle the likes of you can’t imagine. Many break off. But I land most. Today I landed 10. Kept three that were legally hooked, released the rest, including a 30 lb female. Never saw a single fishermen. I was completely alone, exactly the way I like it, the way I dreamed it while I was locked in a prison cell for 13 years. It’s surreal to be living out your dreams in real time. I’m so grateful that I have a wife who understands me so well that she doesn’t mind I disappear for days to fish or hunt or just be me. Nature is where I recharge my batteries and gather my thoughts. It’s where I spend my time with God. I hope that anyone who reads this pauses for a moment to remember that we are here to LIVE, not exist. Make time for your passions and hobbies. Excuses are easy to make. Don’t make them. Go live. Find your happy place and get there. This is mine, but yours is somewhere. When you get there, take some videos. Post some pictures. Forget the politics and bickering. Forget your differences. Just go live!! That’s when you’ll find your true value to the world. God bless. And expect more pics or salmon See more

08.01.2022 Whyalla Weekend Fishing Report: Some really good fishing to be had around Fitzgerald Bay at the moment with cuttlefish/salmon/Kingies and squid all available t...o land based and boat fishers I spent 2 hours fishing at the Point Lowly marina and along the rocks back into Fitzgerald Bay during the week as was surprised at the amount of fish cruising around especially at the Lowly Marina I saw kingfish up to a metre long cruising very close to the rocks at the marina (I suspect looking for cuttlefish) A large school of 3 to 4kg salmon also passing through along with a school of mullet inside the marina. Very hard to catch drummer were also present along with good size squid and cuttlefish. For boaties KG whiting seem to be a hit and miss proposition at the moment Silt grounds have some but hard going Drops out in front of Cowleds Landing have some good fish along with Mareks Salmon along the steelworks wall around 1kg in size Tommies and garfish along with squid in front of the stick south of the Whyalla Marina Pictures Adelaide visitor getting amongst some nice squid at Fitzgerald bay and keeping them for live baits whilst ballooning for kings

06.01.2022 Caught by Diana lam last night on moonta jetty! Stomper squid

05.01.2022 RecFish SA Reservoir Report Bundaleer Reservoir - The Northern Gem! RecFish SA Director, Alex Williams and LMLFC President, Leigh Kuerschner paid the Bundaleer... Reservoir a visit last weekend, to survey the success of the RecFish SA stocking program. Their method; launch the kayaks and cast around Spinnerbaits and Hardbodies. It was immediately obvious that the stocking program at Bundaleer has been a huge success! Leigh managed to catch and release a large number of very healthy Callop and Silver Perch. Alex also had success on the Callop landing some football shaped Callop which had a lot more energy than their Murray River counterparts. The highlight of the day, Alex being lucky enough to help net a 60+cm Murray Cod that he reported was almost as wide as it was long! (Slight exaggeration) Great reports coming from Bundaleer and Warren Reservoirs, so make sure you get your permits organised from Reservoirs SA - https://book.tourmanager.com.au/recreational-fishin//99833 Reservoirs South Australia David Speirs MP
