19.01.2022 Did you know that bushfires can create their own weather? Known as pyrocumulonimbus clouds, they're a thunderstorm that forms in the smoke plume of a fire. As ...the plume of hot, turbulent air and smoke rises high in the atmosphere, it broadens and cools causing cloud to form. If the atmosphere is unstable a thunderstorm can develop, potentially producing violent winds, thunder and lightning, which can ignite new fires. As we saw during the significant bushfires last summer, pyrocumulonimbus clouds can cause dangerous and unpredictable changes in fire behaviour making the fire more difficult and hazardous to fight. 04.01.2022 A SEVERE Weather Warning has been issued for tomorrow, Saturday 5 December, for DAMAGING WINDS. A cold front will cross Victoria on Saturday, with strong north...erly winds ahead of the front, and gusty westerly winds behind the change. Damaging westerly winds are expected to ease inland during Saturday evening, however are likely to persist in exposed coastal locations during Sunday morning.
