25.01.2022 Today the children ripped paper strengthening their fine motor skills, then they scrunched the paper into balls using one hand and two hands, Improving their hand control . the children then made a big pile of scrunched ripped paper. the children then explored the scrunched paper environment they built. while crawling rolling and burying themselves they were developing their proprioception. which is strengthening their unconscious sensation of movement. this will develop an internal and unconscious map of how their body works. enabling them to know what their body parts are doing without looking at them. this will help with things like buttoning cloths finding something in a pocket and being coordinated. Ripping paper and scrunching will strengthen hands and fingers helping with writing and cutting.

13.01.2022 Today we played with shaving cream and explored mixing colours.. What the children learnt from this simple colour mixing activity: They used scientific thinking to observe, predict and compare, and they experimented with cause and effect. What will happen if we mix all three primary colours together? How much blue do you need to add to make Aqua? Can I make the exact same colour twice? They used problem solving skills and came up with ideas for what to do when th...e colour they were mixing didnt turn out quite the way they had hoped. They used mathematical concepts such as more and less, and devised ways to measure how much paint they were adding. They used a multitude of fine motor skills like squeezing, pouring and mixing, and worked on controlling those skills. Its not always easy to pour just a little bit of colour! I am still open for essential workers so we have been busy. today cooking was one of the experiences Spider biscuits 1 pkt noodles 2 tablespoons peanut butter... 200g cooking chocolate milk or dark Break chocolate up into pieces add to a micro safe bowl Add the peanut butter Microwave 60 sec if not melted add a further 5 sec till melted Mix well add the noodles mix spoon small amounts onto a tray allow to set put in fringe when ready eat
