25.01.2022 Puppy Class Graduation or Adelaides Next Top Doggo? Meet Lola and Sadie, two of our newest graduates! We run regular puppy preschool classes on weeknights through the year. Each course runs for 4 weeks, with the final week being a puppy dress up party and graduation all in one! The classes are a great opportunity for puppies to socialize, play and learn new skills like sit, stay and drop. Ask one of our friendly vet nurses in clinic or by phone on (08) 8276 7711 to enrol your puppy in our next class!

24.01.2022 To all our cat owners, please be aware there has been a product recall issued by PetBarn on the BFF range of cat foods. These foods have been recalled and removed from their shelves based on feedback from customers that it may be causing some cats to become unwell. The product manufacturer Weruva is actively investigating these reports. The most up to date advice is - if you do feed your cat this product - stop immediately and return the product to PetBarn for a refund. ... If you have any concerns, please contact Weruva on 1800 338 359 between 9am 7pm AEST or [email protected]

24.01.2022 In light of the recent news cycle and the challenging times we are all facing at the moment we wanted to bring everyone a bit of a good news story for your Friday afternoon. This beautiful little girl is Lila (named after Lila Bard from Victoria "V.E." Schwab's A Darker Shade of Magic series). She was found and brought in to our clinic by a kind member of the public this week. When she arrived she was assessed by our vets and it was immediately apparent that her right eye w...as blind and extremely painful as a result of a ruptured cornea. This can happen for a number of reasons including a perforating corneal ulcer or a traumatic injury. Unfortunately once an eye has ruptured the best treatment is to remove it as soon as possible. This can be a risky procedure, even in a healthy adult cat. In such a small kitten both the procedure and the anaesthetic carry even higher risks. Fortunately Lila is an absolute fighter and she made it through the procedure with flying colours. Within a few hours of her big surgery she was up and bouncing around and keen for her dinner and plenty of snuggles with all of her amazing nurses. She is such a character and everyone at our clinic has absolutely fallen in love with her. At this stage Lila is recovering from her eventful start to life and being cared for by everyone at the clinic. However, she is in search of a forever home and will be available for adoption shortly. She is such a lovely, smoochy little girl who loves attention and is always keen for a snuggle. She will make a great indoor cat for someone looking for an affectionate companion. If you are interested in potentially adopting Lila feel free to contact the clinic on 8276 7711. To all our valued clients and their beloved fur-babies during this challenging period, we hope you are all safe. Wash your hands. Observe social distancing requirements. And remember that we are still open at present and here to help if your pet needs us.

Congratulations to Oreo for winning the Sit Competition and to Bobbie for winning the Drop Competition! And lastly to Tilly on being the most improved in the class, coming out of her shell from the first week! 17.01.2022 This happy fellow was found in a lady's kitchen this morning near Fishbytes on Springbank Road.. She brought him to us. He is wearing a lime green Rogz collar and is very friendly indeed. If he is known to anyone you can call the Clinic up until 7:30 pm, but in the meantime he is safe. And full. And welcome to a sleepover if no one calls.

17.01.2022 Congratulations to Clare Andrew, one of our amazing vet nurses, who each give so much of themselves every day to achieve what they believe in. 05.01.2022 We are having problems with our phones today. We believe the problem is related to the NBN and Telstra. We have just now rigged our own work around whilst we wait for a Telstra technician. The phones are now back online but we have no internet/email. We apologise for the inconvenience.

05.01.2022 During the next few months as COVID-19 potentially continues to impact on our daily lives, there will be various requests from businesses to help limit the spread. Colonel Light Vet Clinic is still open for business, ready to see yourself and your beloved pets. However, we are asking for our clients to consider the following: If you're experiencing flu-like symptoms, please stay home and have someone else bring in your pet.... If you're experiencing flu-like symptoms and no one else can bring your pet into the clinic, please tell the nurse on the phone so we can make adequate arrangements. Please limit the amount of people coming in to the clinic with your pet. Our house call service will be temporarily suspended. These requests are to keep our clinic safe, not only our employees, but also for the wider community (especially the elderly and the immunocompromised). We also would like to clarify recent reports that dogs can transmit COVID-19 to humans. This is has not been proven by any scientific studies. There is also no evidence of COVID-19 transmission in cats or any other domesticated animal. If you have any questions regarding these requests, please do not hesitate to call us on (08) 8276 7711. Thank you for your understanding, it is greatly appreciated.

Please be patient with us during this unprecedented time - appointments may run late from time to time but this is due to the extra precautions we are putting in place. Please respect our wishes and instructions during this difficult time. Through the following measures we are doing our part in protecting our workplace, employees and the wider community.... Although we always cleaned the clinic thoroughly throughout the day, we have increased the frequency and cleaning high of contact surfaces/objects (e.g. door handles, reception counter). The following are new measures we are starting to implement this week, please read through them carefully. Limit of 1 person per consult. Please limit bringing children into the clinic. Please respect our wishes for social distancing. Use the hand sanitiser provided. Puppy school is cancelled indefinitely. The waiting room has limited space, you may be asked to wait in your car. Contactless payment is preferred. Limit contact with frequently touched surfaces. We would also like to reiterate the previously discussed points.
