23.01.2022 Our volunteers responded to a road crash rescue in Moorooduc this morning. With an increase in traffic on the road, we remind all drivers to please ensure they ...are driving to the conditions and stay safe while on our roads. We worked with Moorooduc CFA to ensure scene safety and provided traffic management due to the blind corner the crash occurred on. Fortunately there was no extrication of driver/passenger required. Well done to all services on scene

19.01.2022 Today CFA brigades were called to a number of out-of-control burn-offs If you're using the great weather to clean-up your property for fire season, make sure ...you conduct your burn-off safely. A burn-off, if not extinguished properly can re-ignite days after the original burn. Keep your burn-off safe and legal: Check fire restrictions with your local council and register your burn on 1800 668 511 Check and monitor weather conditions particularly wind To avoid unnecessary calls to emergency services, notify your neighbours beforehand Leave a three metre fire break, free from flammable materials around the burn Have sufficient equipment and water to stop the fire spreading Never leave a burn-off unattended stay for its entire duration If your burn-off gets out of control, call ‘000’ immediately

16.01.2022 With summer starting tomorrow and many grass and bushfires already burning, it's a timely reminder to start preparing for bushfires. While the risk of bushfir...es isn't as high as last summerdue to an active La Niña which suggests wetter-than-average conditions for much of the countryfires will still occur. Southeastern Australia in particular is one of the most fire-prone regions in the world and even short periods of hot and dry weather can increase the risk of fire in summer. Understanding fire weather means you can be better prepared and help you stay safe. Learn more from our blog: http://ow.ly/zFLl50CxDDN

11.01.2022 Victoria is one of the most fire prone areas in the world. If you live near areas that have significant bush, forest, long grass, or coastal scrub, then you need to plan ahead for the fire season.

05.01.2022 Today we mark one year since the start of the devastating bushfires which deeply affected Victorian communities across the state. On 21 November, 2019 the first... ‘code red’ fire danger rating in almost a decade was declared in the Mallee and Northern Country, and dry lightning strikes in East Gippsland that started three fires which grew to a widespread bushfire disaster that burned for months. Today we reflect on the devastation and challenges that followed 21 November and the incredible support from all emergency services who came together to aid the communities impacted by the unprecedented fire season. 04.01.2022 With La Niña now well established in the Pacific Ocean, the outlook for this summer is vastly different to the past few years. Wetter-than-normal conditions a...re likely across much of the country, increasing the chance of widespread flooding in eastern Australia. La Niña also means we're expecting average to above-average numbers of tropical cyclones and tropical lows. While the risk of bushfires isn't as high as last summer, fires will occur. There's a greater chance of grass fires in some areas as recent rain and warm weather have led to vigorous vegetation growth. Summer days are likely to be warmer than average for parts of southeast Australia, coastal Queensland, and far western parts of WA. And heatwaves will continue to pose a risk throughout the warmer months, which can have a significant impact on human health.
