16.01.2022 CFD Health & Fitness will be open again for Outdoor training from Wednesday 28th Oct. Capped at groups of 10 people. Our indoor training will re-commence on Monday 9th Nov as well in groups of 10 ( that is in less than 2 weeks). It is now time to wake up out of Hibernation and spring into Fitness all of course in a Covid-safe manner. I know, I have by now some curves of my own to flatten. What about you?... 13.01.2022 Today I’m going to let you in on a little secretit’s not hard to get and stay fit. It’s not about hard work and deprivation. It’s all about boundaries. Let me explain When you were a child your parents set boundaries around you. They were the authority on what was or wasn’t acceptable behaviour. You had to complete your chores before dinner. You had to finish your homework before going out to play. You had to eat all your vegetables before dessert.... If you failed to comply with these boundaries then you knew that there would be consequences. As an adult, you, and only you are the authority on what is or isn’t acceptable behaviour. You are in the position to set boundaries around yourself. These boundaries serve as a framework of order around you a rock of support in an otherwise chaotic world. With self-imposed boundaries, you can assure your success in anythingspecifically with weight loss. Your fitness boundaries have to be self-imposedno one is going to do it for you. Don’t look at this as a bad thing! Self-imposed boundaries are self-empowering and make you feel you are in control. But let’s face it, you’ve been living a life most likely without fitness boundaries. You eat whatever you want, whenever you want it. You use any excuse to avoid exercise. You indulge whenever it feels good. YOUR FITNESS BOUNDARIES It’s time to introduce boundaries back into your life. These boundaries are the key to unleashing your ideal fit and healthy body. #1: WHAT YOU EAT Are you eating as healthy as you could be? Place boundaries around what you will allow yourself to eat. Acceptable food items include whole foods, vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and lean meats. #2: HOW YOU EXERCISE Are you exercising 3-5 times each week? Place boundaries around how often you must exercise in order to earn your food. 06.01.2022 1 DAY TO GO and I'm sure some of you are chomping at the bits.. Here is my advise about getting back into training safely after lockdown for at least the next 6 weeks. - Stay light with higher reps Do not smash it with heavy loads. ... - 15 reps unbroken is a good rep range to start - if you can’t do 15 quality reps don’t go up in weight. - Work on good form and full range - Your mobility, strength and fitness are not like it was pre-Covid. - Meaning, if you can’t go to full depth in each and every rep do not go up in weight. - Control the weight you use - Do not use momentum to throw weights around. - Now is the time to build a good foundation and not to be hero. - Don’t give it 100% at the beginning Take it easy, don’t kill yourself and keep something in reserve - Remember - you still have to function outside the gym. 03.01.2022 This is how you can make a delicious Sweet Potato Curry Soup. This soup is full of goodness to warm you up. It contains sweet potato, a combination of nourishing spices, as well as delicious, creamy organic coconut milk! The essential finishing touch to this delightful soup is adding a squeeze of fresh lime before eating - it really completes the whole dish! Ingredients: 500g sweet potato (around 2 medium size potatoes) 3 cloves garlic... 1 brown onion 1 cm piece of ginger (can use 1 tsp organic ginger powder) 50g organic coconut oil or butter 1 tsp organic mild curry powder 2 cups water 2 tbsp stock (I use homemade paste can use chicken or vegetable stock) Himalayan pink salt Black ground pepper Pinch of organic ground nutmeg 1 cup organic coconut milk (BPA free tin) Fresh lime Method: 1. Cut sweet potatoes into cubes. 2. Peel garlic and ginger, and chop into small pieces. 3. Dice the onion. 4. Melt coconut oil or butter in a large saucepan. Saute garlic, ginger and onion over low heat, until soft (take care not to burn). 5. Add curry powder to the saucepan and stir to combine. Cook until fragrant. 6. Add sweet potatoes, water and stock before bringing the boil. Once boiling turn the heat down to a simmer and cook until tender (usually around 20 minutes). 7. When potatoes are cooked use a stick mixer to puree (otherwise transfer to a blender). Stir in the nutmeg, coconut cream, black pepper and a good grinding of salt to the soup and heat until hot - do not boil. 8.
