17.01.2022 By the Grace of G-d, 8 April 2020 Dear Giralang Resident, ... CANBERRA JEWISH SCHOOL The Canberra Jewish School started in February 2020 in the former Health Centre, a formerly unused building, adjacent to the Giralang Primary School on Menkar Cl. We were planning to do a letter drop with this letter in Giralang, however, due to the pandemic will be doing this via the internet instead. It is proposed that internal refurbishment will commence soon and then external works will proceed after Government approvals have been applied for and received. We have already consulted with the Giralang Primary School and the ACT Education Directorate and have incorporated some of their feedback into this revised concept plan. We are now turning to the wider Giralang community for your feedback. The external works are illustrated in the attached sketch plan which is available for comment. The proposal provides an essential and upgraded external area for the students of the Canberra Jewish School to recreate in. It also indicates additional parking that is proposed within the shopping centre development and an upgraded accessible path from the north to the Giralang Primary School and at the entry to the Canberra Jewish School. The Primary School crossing is maintained to the east and a new path provides direct access to the Primary School. Seating and a new landscape will be immediately outside the Primary School Entry and enhance the entry significantly. Most of the land is either ACT Property, TCCS or Education land which is leased to Chabad ACT with a permission to use and occupy provided. A condition of the lease is that the land is fenced and to comply, and for the safety of young children so they are contained within a safe and secure area, a typical ACT school fence, similar to the one around the daycare next door, is proposed around the site. The landscape plan will greatly enhance the area and provide an excellent outside area for the students to recreate and learn within. It will be a positive addition to the area. We welcome comments by Giralang residents back to us by email: [email protected] by Friday 17th April 2020. Social media can be a funny place and we will only consider the feedback received via the email address in formulating a final plan. We intend to consider the comments then submit a proposal for Development Approval to the ACT Planning Authority. Yours faithfully, Canberra Jewish School

06.01.2022 Mazal tov gadol - a huge Congratulations - to Israel and the UAE on their historic peace deal announced today. Thank you to the U.S.A for their assistance. Earlier this year, Rabbi Shmueli Feldman became the first Jew to give a keynote speech at the UAE embassy in Canberra, (post function joint faith leader video statement attached) in which he embraced the strides the UAE was taking for tolerance and encouraged it to continue with full diplomatic relations with Israel. Toda...y marks the first time since the modern State of Israel was established in 1948 that an Arab country was brave enough to have full open ties with Israel - not to end a war - but rather to put extremist religious ideologies aside for the benefit of humanity and prosperity. May this peace deal serve as a shining light for the entire middle east and world at large, that co-existence is very much achievable. See more
