25.01.2022 There goes getting swing on the ball...... Prof Murphy (Australia's Chief Medical officer) said he did not want to see people using saliva to shine cricket balls even after the coronavirus threat has passed. He said that was one of many unhygienic practices he thought should be dumped from Australians behaviour entirely moving forward.... In so many parts of our society, hygiene practices need to change, Prof Murphy said We, as a first-world, very wealthy country, have probably become a bit relaxed about hygiene and I think its time that we focused on those things and have learned from those measures. I don’t think using saliva to shine cricket balls is a very good thing at all.

24.01.2022 Covid 19 Update The practise of bowlers shining the ball with saliva has been banned. Instead bowlers will be encouraged to work on the ball by other less in...fectious means, that could include: 1. Sand Paper (Already trialled in some parts of the world) 2. Hamburger Pickles (Have to be useful for something) 3. Hand Sanitiser (Highly practical, highly hygienic) 5. Angle Grinder (Provided it fits in the pockets of your whites) 6. Hair Gel (Plenty available in Junior Games) 7. Vegiemite (Secret trials currently underway) 8. Reef Oil (Works, but makes ball hard to catch) 9. Shaving Cream (Gel preferred, not foam) 10. Electrical Tape (Works on tennis balls, surely can work on match balls) Cheers Health first, fun second The Club Doctor

13.01.2022 Understanding The Skills of Cricket How to Collect the Boundary Marker Cones. 1. Wait until play is completed for the day.... 2. Walk around boundary perimeter. 3. As you reach a boundary marker, pick it up. 4. Continue until a full lap is done and all markers are collected. 5. Place marker cones neatly in correct storage place. Although a relatively simple skill, it is remarkable how many cricketers at The Club have never mastered it. Actually there are many who have never even attempted this skill. Give it a go. Successful completion will give you a nice warm feeling of satisfaction.

11.01.2022 The Club continues it’s online Presentation Night with this highly prestigious, member voted award. We expect all followers to place a vote.

11.01.2022 Covid 19 Update The Club informs players that the following restriction will be put in place when cricket resumes. When The Club is open, no more than 10 peopl...e can gather inside it Clearly this has consequences for afternoon tea. So we will be enforcing the following: * Teams will have to have afternoon tea, one team at a time. * The Home Team will be served first. * One Player from each team will have to miss afternoon tea. To ascertain which player misses afternoon tea. We suggest the following: 1. Any player named Lachlan. 2. If a team has no Lachlan, then the player deemed most annoying shall be anointed as the one to miss afternoon tea. Cheers These rules make sense The Club Cricketer

10.01.2022 Covid 19 Update Playing Conditions In an effort to fit more cricket in to a shortened season, The Club Cricket Association has introduced the following bylaws:... 1. Fast bowlers will be limited to a run up of no more than 10 steps. 2. Spin bowlers will be limited to a run up of no more than 4 steps. 3. Medium pace bowlers will not be allowed to bowl at all, as they are deemed irrelevant to the outcome of most games. These extraordinary bylaws were passed at a recent meeting of delegates via a highly insecure virtual meeting platform. Cheers Important people make important decisions The Club Cricket Association

05.01.2022 The Tuesday Evening Message From The Chairman of Selectors With finals approaching, this week we face complicated selection arrangements. I urge all players t...o read the following: It is long and complicated, so Fast Bowlers you might need someone to read it to you. 1. It is clear that the 1st Eleven won’t make finals, so some 1st Eleven players who are in form will be dropped to the 2nd Eleven in order to qualify them for 2nd Eleven finals. 2. Some out of form 2nd Eleven players will be promoted to the 1st Eleven in order to make room for the in form 1st Eleven players who are dropping down to the 2nd Eleven. 3. Some in form 3rd Eleven players will be promoted to the 2nd Eleven to give them experience at the level. 4. Some out of form 2nd Eleven players will be dropped to the 3rd Eleven to make way for in form 3rd Eleven players. 5. Some in form 3rd Eleven players will be dropped to the 4th Eleven in order to qualify for 4th Eleven finals. 6. Some out of form 4th players will be promoted to the 3rd Eleven to make way for in form 3rd Eleven players being dropped. 7. Lachlan will be dropped to the 5th Eleven...who have a bye. There you go. Pretty straight forward really. Cheers Anyone want my job? The Chairman of Selectors

04.01.2022 Covid 19 Update. To help meet social distancing guidelines, the tradition of shaking hands with the opposition at the end of the game, will be discontinued. Clu...bs are encouraged to explore possible alternatives that may or may not include: 1. Players texting a message of thanks to their opponents 2. Players lining up opposite their opponents and blowing a kiss to them 3. Captains making a prepared formal speech to officially express gratitude and thanks to each other 4. Each team’s mad fast bowler thanking the f@#$ing opposition for f@#$ing having a f@#$ing good f@#$ing crack. 5. Teams gather and call three cheers for the opposition. 6. Captains hand write a letter of gratitude to the opposition and send it in the post. 7. Teams line up opposite each other and players from the home team throw the opposition a beer. Other suggestions will be considered. Cheers Good health requires good rules The Club Doctor

04.01.2022 Reminder that there is training on tomorrow morning from 11am. The 1sts and 2nds start next weekend 14th with the 3rds and 4ths starting the week after 21st so get down for a hit. Tuesday and Thursday training is back on as normal from 5:30pm... For anyone that doesn't already know, this season is all 1 day games for all grades.

04.01.2022 Covid 19 Update When Cricket resumes, social distancing rules will dictate that: Wicket Keepers will not be allowed to keep up to the stumps.... Consequently, to make a stumping, Wicket Keepers will be required to: 1. Catch the ball 2. On catching the ball, announce One, two, gotcha. 3. If the Batsman is out of their ground at the gotcha moment, then the batsman is out. We expect that this new procedure will be introduced smoothly without issue! Cheers Unique times require unique rules
